    Very Interesting Deer Study

My thoughts exactly. I want to see this study done in a mixed ag/hardwood situation with bucks young and old.

    Nice night...

Congratulations, Daver! Great looking buck. I love seeing the hard work pay off.

Confidence Killer (story of last season)

Been through that myself... For me, it just took finally getting it done a few times. Then I went and missed a chip shot again last year haha.

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

I'm on the "mow" bandwagon, as long as the forecast says it will get several growing days right off the bat. That rye will continue to grow on most warm days all the way thru November as long as there's not a real deep freeze, so I'd be taking a chance in order to get some sunlight to your more...

    Dove Numbers?

Confident some went south with the cool nights we had a few weeks back. Still a lot around but they've all but disappeared from my farm since the cool weather.

    Acorns to Oaks!

How much attention do you have to pay to those trees when leaving in bags for several years?

Do not trust county assessor land values.

    equipment wishlist

I would have a hard time not going with a 3pt boom sprayer but I think Horse Doctor nailed it.

    2015 AZ Hunting Journal

I've been in your shoes, Sydney, with a very similar situating when I was just a little older than you. Sounds like you've worked really, really hard for this opportunity! I'd hate to see you pass it up over something circumstantial (that you cannot control). Life often poses these...

    burning

No permit required. For sure let sheriff dispatch know when you ignite and when the fire is out. As always, watch the wind. Likely going to be a smoky fire this time of year.

    Johnson Grass

Sure looks like it to me

    How wet is to wet

Hopefully you have some dirt left! In my experience, after bare dirt has seen standing water, it gets crusty once it dries up. Not a good seedbed. I'd be prepared to shallow disk it before seeding. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    New broadhead slugs

Bingo. Interesting technology but kind of a joke. No accuracy or consistency even in how the 3 flew. I'll stick with a Barnes.

    Not Bad

I'll second that, Tim. Or older. he's pretty well developed up front.

    Skip's farming

Dude... I buried a 5115 M with a 1518 batwing attached last summer, mowing willows. Got cocky. But that stuck blows mine out of the water! Could at least see the tops of my front tires.

    where why?

Lots of ways to run cams and not pressure deer one bit. If it was so stressful, deer wouldn't return night after night to baited cam sites. My .02

    Timber Stand Improvment

Should be fine if you can handle the heat/bugs!! Just be sure not to injure your desirable trees in the process, like snapping off a big oak limb by hinging a different tree. Makes desirables more susceptible to disease this time of year. Another note, perfect time of year for hack and squirt...

Another vote for just the plate! Great addition.

    Drilling the DBLTREE mix...?

If your plot site is rough, be cautious. Our no-till drills tend to put seed out about 15-25% heavier than calibrated if it's bouncing a lot, which is often the case when no-till drilling into killed sod. Old Truax's is what we have. Heavier seed (prairie forbs, grains, etc.) moreso than the...
