    Which Implements?

I'm in the market for some 3 point implements to use on food plots at my farm. I bought a 53 Ford Jubilee tractor (roughly 29hp), so want to keep things within that range. My question is this: Which implements should I look for? I have been seeing 2 bottom plows, Cultivators as well as Disc...

    1st buck new farm!

Congrats! Beautiful deer and that property looks cool. Lots of fun work ahead on that place but looks like you have the right deer around.

    Disappointing Iowa Gun opener

Big problem I see that is mind boggling is that the DNR, who are experts in wildlife, who undergo studies to know what herd numbers are, are the ones out talking to people, etc, have to take orders from politicians. These same politicians have lobbyists in their pockets (Farm Bureau, weapon's...

    2023 Deer Harvest Report numbers

Completely agree as I had a locker (Afton) that stopped taking whole deer. I took mine to Milo last year. I suspect they will see their numbers rise, despite the overall deer numbers declining. Fewer spots will take on more business. For a while.

    Disappointing Iowa Gun opener

Went on Saturday with my son. Never saw a deer. Heard a few shots but not until almost noon and that was it. Even driving home barely saw guys out, when in years past you would see the "orange army" in nearly every field and would see deer running everywhere. Just kind of strange.

    Pheasant rebound…

I love seeing this. I think your approach is proving itself. I'm going to rid my farm of some nest predators and am working to provide nesting cover for turkeys. Love seeing pheasants/quail benefit from this too. Nice work Skip

No Doe shooting for ME…. U guys down?

Not so much EHD, but I'm not shooting any this year. We took 3 last year and the neighbors stacked up their share. Not a huge amount, but my numbers are down from what I had seen in the past. I am beyond the limitless tags/hush program mindset. I can and will still donate some deer from...

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

Sunday through yesterday was slow. One mature buck sighted at 10am cruising, but hiding in the thick stuff (while ignoring a few does in front of me). I think things should really get going in the next few days.

    Owl Encounter

I had a red tailed hawk do that to me one year sitting on the ground turkey hunting. Saw my hands move when calling and nearly nailed me. I saw him at about 20 yards and waved him off. It was nuts.

Daughter’s first deer with a bow. And first time gutting by herself. :-)

Congrats to you both. Sounds like a fantastic memory and love to hear she did the messy work. This year I will have my youngest dive in and do his own. :)

    Camera flash invisible to humans

Thanks. I'll find a "no-glow" cam and hide it really well.

    Camera flash invisible to humans

Looking for a trail cam that has a flash that people can not see. Had someone take one of my cams. Going to hide one really well but don’t want to donate a new one to the same A-hole. Is black flash invisible? I have IR cams now but they glow red. Easy to see in the dark.

Here's My Solution to the Problems Raccoons Cause

I have been watching these recently (around 8-9 video series). Looks like his 2 year program is thinning them down some and helping. Always a vacuum when dealing with predators, as they will roam and keep filling back in to an extent. But, it appears to really knock them back enough to give...

Combatting Mosquitos at Watering holes (tanks)

Sounds nuts, but if your watering hole is large enough to hold water without drying up, might try minnows or some cheap goldfish. They will eat the larvae and won't hurt the deer drinking from it.

Is Your Area Wet or Dry This Summer?

My place in Ringgold must have a forcefield around it. Every storm on radar goes around it. Pond is 3 feet low.
