All great information above guys. I am also looking to create a permanent screen and for the prices mentioned above it would sure beat digging them up myself.
Sounds like they just sold out....any other reputable places to search for these?
Also may depend on how good of a price you are getting on the farm for down pay percentage.
A partner and I purchased a 50 acre parcel this year and worked with a local bank. It is about 8 acres tillable and rest timber. We were able to get 15% down as the loan to value on the farm was good...
Where are you guys located that you believe to be too far north? Just curious as the few maps I see seem to show clear to northern IA.
Not questioning you as I am sure your 1st hand experience trumps the maps online but was just curious of location.
Another question....I have searched the site for info on Miscanthus Giganteus grass as I thought there was once a thread on it but no luck.
Do any of you guys have experience on planting this stuff? It seems like a solid idea on paper but would like 1st hand experience. As always, thanks for...
Thank you guys for all of your input on the topic, some great points. I am going to do some thinking and find out what option will work best for this particular farm.
I look forward to the projects and documenting the work for the guys here at the site to follow along.
Good luck to all this...
Bringing an old one back up here guys....Can any of you that did the transplanting of larger trees give me an idea on the success rate? I am talking 3' to 4'....Did they grow well this year if transplanted in the spring?
Or would you guys with experience believe that smaller bare root trees...
A 243 with a 58gr vmax is an absolute smoker for coyotes...I shoot a 204 and Really like the gun but it does seem to lack a little knock down power. Don't get me wrong, the 204 will definitely kill dogs without a doubt but sometimes with less than perfect shot placement on a small moving target...
Did you walk to stand in the fanatic jacket? They are definitely bad for burrs and stick tights. I can't imagine doing any moving in the fanatic gear however. I wore a T-Shirt to the stand tonight and was way to warm to put fanatic jacket on.
Here is a buck I posted in the 3-4-5 antler progression thread and has always been a favorite of mine.
The mystery of what happened to this deer along with the size makes it a favorite of mine. This farm is about 120 acres and was decimated with EHD in '12. Found 8 or 9 of the resident bucks...
AZHunter - Those are some incredible bulls...as an Iowa flat-lander headed to Wyo this fall for my 1st ever elk hunt, can you give me an idea of what these things score? My elk hunt will not be about the size of the trophy but I am curious as to what an elk like this might score.
Thanks! I...
I am with the other guys on this one. The believed 4 year old could a 3 year old but either way he will be a great deer next season.
I believe the most potential for growth of a giant may be the deer you believe to be a 3 year old 10pt with busted up rack. He could be 2 year old in my opinion...
