If I remember correctly the goal in Norway is to eliminate a small herd of caribou that is infected to prevent cwd from becoming a widespread issue in Norway. They are then going to monitor the area and keep other herds from entering the area. As they mentioned in the podcast, a plan like this...
Does anyone here listen to the meateater podcast? If not you should check out episode 70 regarding CWD. I think I learned more about CWD from that podcast than all of the previous media I have read and watched.
I understand the convenience factor for young hunters to use smaller calibers. I just don't think realistically it will recruit more young hunters. I don't think this bill is the end of the world. I just know it will be abused by some.
How does it encourage young hunters? I don't personally think this will do anything to recruit young hunters. I am all for hunter recruitment and getting kids involved but I don't see how giving them more weapon choices will change anything.
here's the list. I realize the ballistics aren't great on these guns. Again, my concern is the high capacity mags. We have a couple groups that hunt around us that I can almost guarantee will have ARs this season.
You're right it's not. I didn't realize there was an approved list. .50 beowulf is listed though and I know that cartridge is popular on the AR platform.
Well what I forsee is a lot of .450 bushmasters or other calibers on an AR platform with 30 round magazines. Yeah they aren't much more accurate than modern slugs but they don't have to be when you have 30 rounds.
Hate to see this getting pushed through. Pretty safe bet that Branstad will sign it.

I'm actually a resident here now. Moved from Iowa a couple years ago. so i only pay $42 and can hunt from september to mid December. Nonresident tags are $442.
I hunt public in Kansas currently. It has taken me a while to find a good spot but I finally found a good piece of public. Im in Eastern kansas though so there is alot more people and competition on this side of the state. A lot more public/wiha land in the western half of the state.
I would take anything Kroll says with a grain if salt. He has been buddied up to the high fence guys for the last few years and spreading his bullshit around. I don't believe anything he says anymore.
Benelli M2s are great as slug guns. I have the 20 gauge but know several guys with the 12 and we all really like them. I've got a nikon slug hunter scope and shoot Federal Trophy Coppers. It's very accurate.
