    Fletch making tutorial

Hey Jethro, I can't speak to which feather will last longer. From the limited experience I have, I certainly noticed a difference in which feather "seems" tougher. The wild turkey feather is a lot thicker than ones obtained from domestic birds....which is the bird population all the commercial...

    Fletch making tutorial

I thought posting this may help any of you that wanted to make fletching out of the birds you are harvesting. I always wanted to sit down and do it, but up until a few weeks ago, never did. If you are an archer and fletch your own arrows, you know how expensive real turkey feathers can be if...

    Not a Turkey........

I miss ringnecks! I had to put my shorthair down 2 years ago and haven't gone out since then. The last hunt Sam and I were on togather was late season. She locked up on a bird next to a snow fence. I didn't get the chance to shoulder the gun, the bird attempted to flush and Sam snatched it...

Wanting to get into traditional archery.

[ QUOTE ] SIX WEEKS , your a lucky man. I don't think I've seen any of my bows less than 10. You can't go wrong with either model. The SA III was my first one and I'll never part with it. [/ QUOTE ] I was suprized as well. Roger said he's been telling people 8-10 weeks but they have...

Question about the Double Bull Matrix?

I have a Matrix too. It's the best blind I've ever been in, period. First season was rainy and windy, the blind proved to be sturdy enough for 35mph winds. We had a little flap right off the bat, but tightened the frame straps(new to the Matrix)a little and it sat there solid as a rock...

Wanting to get into traditional archery.

I talked to Roger at Black Widow today and changed my order around a little. I switched it to an SAII 60inches, 52#@29in. He said it should take 6 weeks.

    New Wingbones

Thanks D! All the drawing/writing on the calls are done with Indian Ink brush pens. Faber-Castell makes some really nice ones. You can get a 6-pen package for $10.00. I just use the "Shades of Gray" set.( you can pick them up at about any hobby place) The ink is let to dry and sprayed with...

    New Wingbones

I had three buddies come out first season and I made calls for them, each from their own bird. I kept the other wings for my calls. The collection:

    Make your own fletching?

I know True Flight takes them, but only at certain times of the year and at 100 at a time. I had pretty good luck knocking most the thickness down with a Dremmel when the feather was in the jig clamp, I finished it off with 400 grit sandpaper, worked pretty well.

    So I'm just sitting there....

I've mentioned us having a lot of birds around here in past posts. IADroptine lives a block from me, he's had to have seen them as well. I have some great pictures of a tom, strutting and gobbling in the backyard of a guy that lives 2 blocks south of our house. I'll put them up too.

    Make your own fletching?

[ QUOTE ] Here's what I use to cut the feathers, might be a little cleaner than a burner. You can buy them in any size or fletch style. http://www.3riversarchery.com/Product.asp?c=2&s=8&p=36&i=4398X [/ QUOTE ] I went ahead ond ordered one... thanks man! I couldn't wait so I...

    Make your own fletching?

BT, I think they'll fly great, I just need to get my burner here so I can trim them. I'm actually thinking about just making a template and cutting them with a scissors. I want to try 'em out!!
