    ? about limping buck

I have a buck that is a 4x5 ish but is a year or two away from being special. He showed up with a very clear limp yesterday, as if he has been shot or maybe injured in a fight. He is barely using his front right leg. Does anyone have any experience with something like this, do you think there is...

    DIY Elk hunt.

If you want to hunt in 2014 I would look into Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, or Idaho. Plan on putting lots of miles on the boots and you can not see elk for days and then when you find the herd be surrounded by 100. Any other questions, let me know... Good Luck!

    Acorns to Oaks!

I've read a lot about you guys planting Dwarf Chinkapin Oak over the last 5 years, how are they producing? Have you noticed any additional attractant to these stands? Finally does anyone know of any acorns/ bare root stock that are available for 2014?

    Is there a farmland bubble?

This is true, insurance saved a lot of guys last year, and I was one of the guys who received a check. I would have much rather produced 197 bushel corn. I would say most of your land that is going for 10-20k an acre right now is a situation where either two bidders sat and looked at the land...

    Is there a farmland bubble?

The answer to your question, is the cost to drive across 150 bushel ground is the same as 200 bushel ground. The equipment all costs the same. About the only inputs that go down with cheaper ground are land prices, fertilizer, and transport. Almost everything else is the same. Plus if land is...

    Is there a farmland bubble?

You had me excited for a minute! Is the timber worth anything? Other than deer production?

    Is there a farmland bubble?

I saw a figure the other day that said current farmers have a nationwide land debt ratio of 11%. That is pretty powerful, but land values follow revenue. When corn goes down we will probably see a correction, especially in the top end, but I have been saying this for 5 years so who knows when it...

    Great EASY food plot!!

i'm pretty sure Dbltree had a thread on planting Radish, Turnip, Rape and Winter Rye into standing crops after the first frost. Once they stop growing and start dying for the season planting the off season food plots build the soil, feed the deer and don't compete with the crops. I've tried it...

    SD Bucks

Most of our quality public hunting land is west river. I would get out of the pheasant areas, because those public areas get pounded hard by bird hunters. http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/areas/maps/default.aspx

    SD Bucks

I would say it is area specific. The river bottoms have more whitetails and the prairie has more mule deer. Either could pop up anywhere.

    SD Bucks

I spent 2 days scouting, looking for a big mule deer that I had been hearing about. I found some nice White tails but no shooter Mulies, however I was saving my sprained ankle for opening day so I was mostly scouting from the road. I was optimistic I would find the buck I was after and set...

    Land Prices

Monsanto and alot of other big ag companies in the know are predicting 300 bushel national average corn yields in the next 17-20 years. Multiply that by $7 a bushel and you see where the higher prices are coming from... I think just like the 70's into the 80's there will be a good oportunity to...
