    Bedding Areas

Last year I saw 4-5 bucks come in and bed together at the end of October when they "should have been" fighting. They came in the morning a couple hours after sunrise, and from a direction opposite the way I'd walk in. It's the top of a ridge point that has heavy trails from the valley up to it...

    Bedding Areas

Just wanting some advice on how close you should hang a stand near a bedding area. I found and confirmed a great bedding area while she'd hunting, and it looks like a previous owner had hung a stand almost right in it. The chains are well imbedded into the tree now. Just wondering how close is...

    Hidden Acres Sportsman's Retreat

Hey guys. I'm going to be headed up to Hidden Acres by Dayton, IA for their annual Sportsmen's Retreat. My friend is the director there and says that it is awesome. Would love to have a whole Iowa Whitetail Forum contingent this year. Here is their description of the retreat. Do you enjoy the...

    Farm Bureau:

How about you all take this to a farming forum instead of a Whitetail forum. You both sound like prepubescent school boys arguing over bubblegum.

Extremely interesting indeed. Too bad most people won't watch it because its 30 minutes long.

would you consider this a drop tine buck

Why not take a picture that is straight on and level with the deer so we can see how it hangs.

    Frustrating

I'm going back out tomorrow, and moving up the field edge another 50-75 yards or so. That will put me about 50 yards from where they came out. It wasn't a shed antler buck I hit. I looked her for quite a while in the scope. No scars, scabs, or nubs to be seen.

    Big and Beasty

I don't know. There is a public ground field in Webster county where the DNR had a farmer plant alfalfa, and let him cut it for hay once. I have never seen a field so tore up. Deer are coming from far on private land to eat in this field. Same field where right after I shot the doe I couldn't...

    Frustrating

To say this hunting season has been frustrating, is an understatement. Seeing very little rut action all of November, and having deer spook for wired reasons, has got be super frustrated. But hey, that's why it's called hunting, right? Last night I was sitting on a public alfalfa field that is...

What are y'all's thoughts on score for this buck?

I'd say he'd score in the high 120's or 130's. Not having too many points doesn't help the score. But he is tall with good width and tine length. So that makes up for some.

    Score?????

    155 3/8. That's my guess.

    Still chasing?

This is only my second year out late season, so I'm not always familiar with what deer do this late in the year. I was out hunting this afternoon and saw a one sided fork horn chasing a yearling doe. Is it normal to see bucks this late still breeding the does that weren't bred during the first rut?

    The Storm

Looks like the deer on the farm I hunt, decided to bed down along north edge of the corn field right along the timber line while the snow came through. Figured they would have bedded down back in the woods along a ravine. Never seen this before. Anyone else see similar sign today?
