I'm personally a huge fan of vortex optics and their customer service. I'd recommend a diamondback spotting scope and move up to a viper if you can.

If you're looking to go budget just to try it out, go with a cva wolf or optima. The next recommended step up would be a cva accurate V2. Any of the CVA's will take a blackhorn breech plug. Blackhorn 209 is the powder to shoot unless you go smokeless. Last option and the highest price would...

For sale is a New in Box CVA wolf. Black synthetic stock, blued barrel. The cheapest I can find them on line is $169 at buds gun shop. Looking to get $140 or shoot me an offer. It's sitting on a shelf and I don't need it. Great little entry level gun.
