    Lyon's trail camera thread

I've been neck deep in a deck project on my house this entire summer and have really been slacking on hunting prep, including getting cameras out and prepping stands. Hopefully a couple more weeks will have the deck close enough to being finished that I can feel like I can take a break from it...

Great buck, huge step back. What gives?

I'd agree that it's a difference deer as well. I hope for your sake that's the case. As far as growth in august, it completely depends on the deer. I would say the one pictured will put on some growth yet, but probably not a ton.

    Some favorite trail cam pics

His eye looks a little bloodshot. Must have been burning that midnight oil.

    Some favorite trail cam pics

One of my favorites from last year.

    Same buck?

The frame is definitely similar. That left brow tine is throwing me though... Brow tines typically stay very similar from year to year. Definitely could be the same buck though.

    Need help identifying this creature.

Agreed with the others. Coyote challenge bark. Pretty sweet to hear once you know what it is!

July/Aug/Sept 2018 Trail Cam pic contest

As an example. It's an old picture, so it won't be considered for the contest. If it was a current picture, I'm pretty sure it would win hands down based on the judging requirements.

    2016 buck

Have you put a tape on him? It's super easy and you should be able to easily get within a couple of inches of official. If you do it and it's close, then go for it. If you come up 5+ inches short, it likely isn't boone. But hey, I'd say go for it if you want to see if it is. Doesn't hurt...

    Hawaii Spring Break 2019?

Good choice on visiting Molokini for a snorkel tour. Lots of sweet fish and coral. IF you have any downtime on Maui for a beach, I'd suggest Big beach. Not sure what the March surf is like, but when we were there, that beach produced some fun waves. Beat the crap outta myself for a couple of...

    Never Seen This Before...

Not sure where it was located, but Trophy Bucks of Iowa posted a picture of a similar sized but still holding last years left side. Somebody took pics through a spotting scope of it. Very crazy though. I wonder what would cause that?

    Scrape line rigs

No magic height, just don't put it above what a buck can reach. I generally have my licking branch about 4-5 feet high. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

    Scrape line rigs

Yeah Windpro sold out. I can't remember who bought it. But they changed the name to scrapefix which was probably a smart move. Lot's of people had no clue what windpro was. Everybody thought it was just a wind checker. Hopefully the name change helps them with marketing. Regardless, it is...

    Scrape line rigs

I used windpro (now called scrapefix) last year on my scrapes and the results were unreal compared to previous years of making mock scrapes.

    Blackhorn 209 no accuracy

First glaring thought in my mind is it's hot outside right now. I've had horrible experiences trying to site in and shoot good groups with muzzleloader in hot weather. One or two shots may be okay, but much more than that and it goes south quick. If that's not the issue, my experience with a...

    SML Encore Build

Those high fence deer you shoot won't stand a chance with that gun in your hand Skip! :D Seriously though. Beauty of a gun! I've been around a few of Luke's bolt guns and they are phenomenal. I'd love to own one someday.

    Praying mantis fun

Very cool bugs. It's fun to watch them eat! We caught one once and I put a spider in with it. That mantas grabbed the spider and ate a couple of its legs off, then just started eating right down through its head and body, pretty gruesome way to die.

    Bow strings

I put a set of vapor trails on my last bow and they held up really well.

RESPOND NOW!!!! Suggestions from any hunter!!!

Info on deer communication and how too's. When and how to use your calls and/or decoys. Not just surfacey grunting, get some body into it with regards to the many different vocalizations that deer use. The deer society has some great info on this, but seeing it from another perspective would...
