IMO I'd look at some of the smaller companies, they stay in business by building high quality custom sets... Lots of choices out there for custom string builders.. like - 60x, carters archery(crackers), catfish customs, hogwire, ect.. all make great string, that most would consider better than...

Don't overlook water! On Extreme dry years i hunt a farm that has a spring fed water hole that ive never seen dry up, deer use it like crazy durring the drought years n hardly at all if water is plentiful. I plan on hunting it this yr for sure!!! Like u said, plots are burned up, n lots of dry...
