    Water hole question!

I’ve got tanks all over my farm. A variety of 110 gal. And some 300 gal. Again, I also have multiple natural water sources, creeks, ponds, etc. But in my experience (been putting water tanks out for 10 yrs or so) they become very habituated and dependent on the tanks. It’s often the very first...

    Water hole question!

I’ve been filling mine with SIRWA water for 3 years. They drink it just fine…in fact they hammer them…even with several natural water sources available. Several deer we know very well have used them from the start and continue to, so no health issues for the deer that are obvious.

1st Iowa bow tag punched in 27 years

Thanks for all the likes & nice comments. I agree, he’s a stud 8! I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Hopefully taking out a few of these old-timers creates room for some youngsters with great potential.

1st Iowa bow tag punched in 27 years

We spent our 1st night back in Iowa on New Year’s Eve, 2020. After nearly 27 years of living in other states, what a dream come true to return home. We purchased a farm in southern Iowa and instantly got to work deploying cameras, posting signs, putting in food, etc. While my wife punched 2 tags...

Honest concern with Youth Hunter bucks shot…

We live in a microwave society…the masses want instant gratification. I will say this, I never told my boys “no” you can’t shoot that buck if he comes by as they were starting their hunting careers (we lived in Nebraska at the time and they couldn’t legally hunt big game until 12 years old)...

    Acorn Crop

I think from what I’m seeing/hearing, the areas of the state that are the droughtiest, mast production is high to very high. The areas that are experiencing closer to normal moisture, production is normal or below average. According to this drought map, I’m blessed to be in one of the “wettest”...

    Acorn Crop

If this has already been asked/posted, my apologies for being redundant. I’m curious what others around the state are seeing for acorn crop? On my farm (Ringgold County) there’s essentially no acorn production this yr, other than shingle oaks. I did have a young Bur Oak in the yard produce...

    PH Outdoors

Yep, but man…you should see the results of my 13 acres of 1st yr switch using an atv broadcast spreader. Unreal. Much of it over 5’ already. Small seed boxes are great, but a box that can handle bearded seeds is a non-negotiable for me. Been wayyy too many instances over the yrs when I wanted to...

    Dave smith deer decoy questions

We’ve been using a DSD for years. I’ve used a couple other brands in the past made with the hard plastic material and agree that they are ridiculously noisy. That said, they worked. Heck, my foam deer targets in the yard start getting destroyed and gouged up every yr starting about 3rd week of...

    PH Outdoors

Question: Why don’t they build one of these with a NWSG box option? I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger on one of these for a few yrs now, but I just can’t justify it until they add tat as an option. Admittedly, I’m not knowledgeable on drills at all, my current rig is a 3 row planter behind a...

    Jolie’s 2022 Buck

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. She’s tough to keep up with, she hunts her tail off and earns it. That said, this was one of the fastest bow hunts from start to finish I’ve ever been a part of in 45 years of hunting…so, anecdotally, I guess, as bow hunters, we get an “easy one” about...

    Jolie’s 2022 Buck

November 8th, 2022, we hopped in a Banks blind on a clover/chicory together at about 2pm. It was Hot and the sun was still too high. About 3:30 the clouds rolled in and I opened up the front window of the blind & rattled. In less than a minute this dude was in the clover plot walking sideways at...

    Q-Ball Quinclorac vs. others

Has anyone here used Q-Ball brand Quinclorac on SG? Label says same % active ingredient as Drive XLR8, but it’s less expensive AND label says works with 10 gal. water per acre vs. most others saying 20 gal. per acre is required. Thanks!
