Had about 10/12 miles I wanted to shed hunt this weekend. All prime riverbottom stuff.
Had it all planned out. Last weeks warm spell broke up the river ice enuff it was not safe to cross, (which I would have to do many times).
And yes, I had permission :p

I really can't think of a reason frost seeding is necessary.
First spring rain will pound the seed down enuff.
Clover really doest need to be " IN the ground".
Other than a rain or moisture event that may wash the seeds off your plot, I think you could put cloverseed down anytime in the late winter?
I've spread it over snow 2' deep before. Clover is a hardy seed.
As of now, I have SO many miles of prime riverbottom properties to hunt/ shed hunt, it would take a solid week/ 8 hours a day to walk.
Few if any walk for sheds here. Course, we seldom get bucks here past 160".

Around here, we have 2 invasive species. Buckthorn and prickly ash.

It's a river that my cabin is on.
Top pic, way in the back you can see a field, it was sugarbeets last year. Huge amount of forage in it yet. Right across the road is a standing (cover crop) wheat field.
Got too many deer around IMHO. Winter has been extremely mild here. 2 in a row.
