First Day of Logging project in the books

My first impression is, Wow. The woods sure looks empty in areas when you take a bunch of giant old maples out. The one area they cut they doubled the bedding area size of an already existing bedding area that I already did some cutting on my own. It's very clear I should have let these guys do all the cutting. Very good at what they do.

I've been spectating the project, trying to learn a few things, and trying to stay out of the way. And making sure we don't get to saw happy.(want to leave the good up and coming trees behind)

So far I am pleased. We re turning a city park river bottom into hopefully thick nasty bedding area, in Big AG country where cover can be pretty sparse. It's almost a little sad to watch the Giant maples go.

Actually looks like a nice thinning job had I not known you took big trees out. For sure not over cut!!! Maple grows fast so u smart!!!….. repeat fairly often. Deer are gonna love the new growth & changes to come!!

Skip I should have stated, in the photos, we haven't logged that area yet. We just moved there before they quit, so there will be considerably more trees harvested in this area tommorow. I have so many big ones, when we take them out it almost looks a little barren. I'm looking forward to next summer. When everything Regens. Will post an update tommorow.
