My opinion, you will be glad you quit smoking and wishing you had done it sooner. Which option depends on what you are after. I like the 700 SA centerfire action or the 700 ML action because there are fewer load limitations compared to most other builds and their are countless options for...
The way I read it the landowner can hunt all seasons. The piece that says you can fill tags in two seasons is because there are two tags to fill. One can be filled in one season and the other on another.
....two deer hunting licenses, one antlered or any sex deer hunting license and one antlerless deer only deer hunting license.....
.....The free deer hunting licenses issued pursuant to this paragraph shall be valid and may be used during any bow or firearm deer hunting season.
A landowner is expected to specify no tresspassing vs. a person being required to gain permission? That is just asinine. Does no sign or no painted post mean no permission needed?
Along with the range you are looking for make sure you consider getting one with a good reputation of handling high recoil guns. Vortex Viper PST is a good one for under $1,000 and Sightron s-tac has good options around $500. I have a Weaver Super Slam on one of mine and they hold up too.
Other than the last couple of replies, this thread is over 6 years old. Not that it isn't a good thread, only that cameras have changed a quite a bit since then.
I have thought long and hard on how to respond. I was a big fan of Knight muzzleloaders before switching to smokeless. I am sure this is a great gun. If I ever go to one of the states that do not allow smokeless or require sights, I will own another. However, I doubt it is much of an upgrade...
With the 5 toes I will tell you it is obvious what it isn't. Not cougar, bobcat, wolf, coyote, black lab. If not an otter, what do you propose it could be?
Rock bottom for a complete 700ML bolt gun assembled by yourself, a little over $800. If you already have the donor gun it will be less. If you have someone do the conversion for you, it will be more. 700 center fire short actions can be converted too but will be more. Many Savage centerfires can...
The break open guns will do most of what we are after but the bolt guns offer more options for loads and bullets used. Even the break opens are an upgrade from the smokers. The bolt guns and some of the loads used are perhaps more gun than needed for some, but they are my first choice for my...
Do you use thread tape on your breech plug?
Have your tried the hammer with the breech plug removed?
I don't have one of these guns but I have seen breech plugs in other guns that would not go in far enough because of thread tape bottoming out and stopping the plug from screwing further...
