    Land prices / insane!!!

I think land has softened a little recently. A good recreational piece thats secluded. And has a good history is still going to bring good money. Several Low to Mid 70s CSRs unimproved(untiled) tillable tracts are still bringing right at 10k. Which I would say is down some. And then you have...

How much to buy back beans…..

I was in the same situation last summer/fall. I bought a farm, that Is a mix of tillable and timber/cover. I approached the current farmer about buying 1.5 acres of standing beans. We did, Yield on the farm which was 55× price he sold them for. Which at the time was 12.50 dollars. Times 1.5...

    First Decent Velvet buck

Not a giant but a good buck. I believe I had 1 or 2 encounters with this buck last year. He should really have another year before making the hit list. 1 note about running cammeras so far this summer. There is a tremendous amount of 2 year old bucks, and a lot of future potential.

    A Morel find

It sure seems like in my part of North Iowa, The morels are late. Was out rock picking and seen a lone elm on the edge of field.......Needless to say the most morels I've found in 1 spot. Was kind of a Northerly facing small slope. I believe it was 35 or 36.

“The Land Podcast” link & Iowawhitetail discussion….

I Listened to the whole podcast. I agree with Skip 100%. If there is a will there is a way. I personally just bought (Last fall) my own farm mostly Tillable(My family farms) but has a combination of rec ground(I love to hunt) on the farm as well. (Private deal so got a pretty significant...

    Deer herd

I'm failing to see the problem in this photo. It's their late winter food source. I know quite a lot of places where private land owners leave beans/Corn for the deer. And their places I'm sure look like this.

    Land Prices Out of Control

Hollow Timber River bottoms are bring 4-5k. Deep black Farmland is bringing 17-25k(Recent Sioux County land auction) And floody 55 CSR low land is being sold for 9-10k. Where do people draw the line???? I honestly think the real estate market is on the brink of collapse. I'd say within 1...

    Thickening Up my first farm

So the farm I bought has 25 acres of river bottom. The bottom is pretty hollow with very little under brush/ thick areas. In this river bottom the water rises fast and falls fast. The bottom Is full of huge mature maples. I'd really like to thicken it up for the deer. Should I go in and cut out...

    Coyotes

I would concur with BucksNBears. Seems that coyote vocals are the best. Get 200 out on a quite night and let er Rip. Family member got a brand new Fox Pro. Has a wide range of calls, Have very little luck with Distress calls. Their pretty weary of that.

This buck moved onto my farm during the rut and has become a regular on the place. I believe he s a 3.5 year old. He s got a great spread 20 inches. But just doesn't have much for tine length. Standing Corn killing my rut action

Around both of my best spots. I've got about 500 acres of corn standing within 1/4 mile of both spots. Still been seeing a few good bucks(150s) but nothing fantastic. I know there's bigger deer living in the area. But ever since Oct 25, They've vanished, assuming just hanging out in the...

Saturday evening a neighbor text me and said he s got a big buck in his corn, chasing and tending does. (Less than a mile from my house) I said I'm in.
