Thanks. Sounds like I've got to get some rye seed to spread. I should have mentioned this is pastured timber so there will be no ph checking or anything; just some grass seed spread.

You're right Dor, I do wear the polypro socks already. I have looked at the liner socks & am heading to Cabela's in 8 days so may have to get a few pair. Merino wool has helped also but I like to hunt even if it gets into the 20's & have been out in the teens regularly but couldn't stay out Hope...
Got a ? for one of you experts. A farm I hunt just dozed out a fenceline & put in new fence leaving appx. 30' of cleared ground where they removed alot of elm & osage trees. It will be pastured with cattle next Fall & I would assume he will plant some type of grass in there for the cattle. Could...
I have the Cold Gear 3.0 & have been looking at the new stuff also. I think my biggest drawback on staying warm is wind resistance on my outer layer & my feet always sweat so they get cold first. I've tried several different boots but when they sweat it doesn't matter what I wear. Only thing...
Thanks for the review. I was a little concerned about excessive movement to get ready for the shot but it doesn't sound like much of a problem. May have to get serious about this.

Been lusting after one of those for years myself. Late season morning hunts are almost a thing of the past for me due to the cold. Would love to own one but they are pricey!!!! Would also be interested to hear anyone's experience with them. I would definitely opt for the skyline I think or else...

I had those exact same thoughts last week when I was in Palo helping my b-in-law empty his flooded basement. We're Iowans and we roll up our sleeves and take what Mother Nature gives us. We don't wait for the Government to bail us out. Cedar Rapids/Iowa City will gain attention because of their...
Re: Nonresident Landowners, check out this website
OK, I've stayed out of this one but Pharmer's reply got me thinking. I'm a relative newbie to deer hunting as my family never deer hunted so I've only been chasing them for about 15 years. I have been hunting other things my whole life and my...
Stump Shooter,
If you can find some articles about this topic by John Ozaga in Deer & Deer Hunting you will have a much better understanding of how age structure & buck/doe ratio affect overall deer herd health. His writing style is fairly dry but it's full of facts backed by research all over...
Are you sure they weren't false morels? They can make you very sick. I know if I would of been in your place I would have went straight to the emergency room!

Confirmed today. The levee broke on Monday at the same place it did in 1986. I do know they are hammering the carp with the bows. I would guess everything else would be pretty messed up for a while.

Heard today that the dike may have broken again. Haven't confirmed it yet but I should know tomorrow. Also haven't heard anything on the fishing.
