Some people are allergic to mushrooms. My mom could eat them for years and now the same thing happens to her when she eats them. She can't even take 1 bite without getting sick.

Are you sure they weren't false morels? They can make you very sick. I know if I would of been in your place I would have went straight to the emergency room!

they were morels, he ate some of the same batch, and as i know of i wasnt allergic to them before, so i dont know.

wernt spoiled were they? are sure they were all morels & not a false one mixed in their? if your sure , be checked for allergies for them.

Maybe you had a bad batch of eggs to batter your morels in /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif... It sounds like you had some symptoms of Salmonella which causes Gastroenteritis(Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps)

Even if you got one false morel in the batch it would make you sick. Most people can't tell the difference btw. the two in Iowa. And as a matter of fact, most don't know they even exist. I've taken some classes that help me to identify them. Usually they only grow small in Iowa, which makes them even harder to identify as something other than a morel, but they often grow side-by-side...I've personally seen it.

found my monster patch wed, i picked 2 lg plastic bags full, all on one ridge halfway down towards acreek, nice big yellows. we need rain fellas to keep them coming, cause where i usally find them, real dry. found some huge greys near a creek also but the vegitation was tall, hard to see them, i finlly got on my knees swatting the tall grass and such, the average guy would have walked right by.i just happened to see one by a tree, and started swatting, or i would have crused right by. theres alot more trees like it that i never got to look around , so back out i go tomorow to look somemore. these were still on the south facing sloap downward, are any of you finding them on north facing sloaps yet?

Saw one hen this morning. Walked around for about 45 minutes & found these. I saw more but thought this was enough for today.

So now what? There're washed & "dry". Can they go in the fridge overnight? I want to fry them for lunch the 17th. My Grandparents used to eat these like crazy when I was a kid.

Also, when you pick these - I heard you leave the base of the stem in the ground so they will grow again next year? Educate me.
