SSB 3134 Restricts how much the DNR and County Conservation Boards can spend to acquire land

This bill puts a cap on what the DNR or CCBs can pay for land. Link: <Land acquisition caps> The way I read it, the bill would cap the amount of money the DNR and CCBs could pay per acre of ground. The cap would be a percentage of the asking price for land that is for sale. It varies between...

    SF 2219 Transferable landowner tags

Yes, yes, and yes. Usually there is a different wrinkle to the bills every year, but the goal of the legislation remains the same. For example, the current NRLO tag every year bill with wrinkle of the conditions to obtain a tag, the increase in NR tags bill with the wrinkle of 750 tags for...

    SF 2219 Transferable landowner tags

Not legally. The resident landowner with a valid tag needs to be hunting with the NR that has a doe only tag and it would be considered party hunting. The NR kills a buck and resident landowner party tags the buck. It is illegal for the resident landowner to sell the tag.

HSB 651 Bow tags good for the late January season

There was a sub meeting held today. There was not a vote on the bill, rather they will caucus on the bill tomorrow. As it turns out the bill was written to move the crossbow from the firearm category into the archery equipment category. That triggered (no pun intended) quite a discussion. We...

SF 2142 Increases NR tags with a twist

Passed the sub today 2-1. It was kinda preordained that it was going to move on, but we had a good wide-ranging discussion with the members of the subcommittee today. They want more deer killed, we want more access and not lose the access we have. The bill goes to the full committee, date to...

    SF 2219 Transferable landowner tags

This bill would allow a resident landowner who qualifies for a deer tag to offer the tag for sale. Link to the bill: <Transferable tags> I don't remember if this bill came up last year but it has been proposed before. Didn't Kansas try this several years ago and eventually drop the practice?

    Go Canada

I have been watching live stream of the protest in Ottawa. Instead of spray-painting walls and burning buildings the protestors are shoveling the sidewalks, feeding the homeless and playing street hockey. There are lanes open for emergency equipment, crime has stopped (in that area), the police...

    Go Canada

This guy is from BC and makes good vids on miscellaneous stuff. I like the way he expresses himself in regard to the truckers. AvE #1 AvE #2 AvE #3 If you've got some time, watch some of his other vids. They aren't nearly as political as these three.

HSB 651 Bow tags good for the late January season

I'm confused as well. I would assume if unfilled bow tags could be filled with a muzzle loader in late muzzle loader season it would be either sex. Late season, after Jan. 10th would be doe only. I'm still not sure what this bill is trying to achieve. Also, if the above is true, I would...

HSB 651 Bow tags good for the late January season

Upon further review and reflection, would this bill allow the holder of an unfilled bow tag to use a muzzle loader to fill the tag in the late muzzle loader season and therefor a crossbow?

HSB 651 Bow tags good for the late January season

This would allow the use of an unfilled bow tag in the late antlerless only season. The late seasons are only in counties with 100 unsold tags by a certain date in December. This bill gets around that rule by allowing the use of your unused bow tag. It also allows the use of crossbows under a...

SF 2142 Increases NR tags with a twist

This bill increases NR tags from 6K to 7.5K. The twist is 750 of those tags would go to NRs with no preference points in the draw. The other 750 would be as usual. Another twist in the bill would give hunters killing a doe in a county that is over the population goal a preference point for the...
