First Day of Logging project in the books

For a bedding area, I'd make damn sure some of those big trees were left laying on the ground. Horizontal cover is so overlooked IMHO.

    A decent deer trail.

    On average, 4 _6' deep.

    A decent deer trail.

It's a river that my cabin is on. Top pic, way in the back you can see a field, it was sugarbeets last year. Huge amount of forage in it yet. Right across the road is a standing (cover crop) wheat field. Got too many deer around IMHO. Winter has been extremely mild here. 2 in a row. A buddies...

    Food Plot Architecture Help

Last year was the first they did it (bout 15 years). I put up a few steel posts and hung dirty shirts on them. Took care of the problem real quick.

    Food Plot Architecture Help

I'm not good at looking at maps. But if you have got 7 acres to play with food plot wise, I'd recommend a 1/2 acre into pumpkins. An area that gives good sunlight.

    Ive named her

" My Little Democrat ". She comes to the bird/ squirrel feeder multiple times a day. She's a little free loader. Comes in, chases off the squirrels after theve done all the work knocking the seeds to the ground. She then walks about 60 yards and beds by a brush pile while watching the squirrels...

    Your food plots

Chiming in on these type of threads is tough for me to do. Main reason is... 95% of what I hunt is table flat topography. Much easier to hunt then hilly country and I have zero experience with that. I will say, my little piece of 30 acres of riverbottom land used to be kinda tough to bowhunt...

    Hounds

:rolleyes: I've been hunting with many different hound guys for about the past 8 or so years. Fabricated stories abound. I once asked permission to bowhunt a property. Land owner said no. Said she had a deer die in her yard that had 8 arrows in it. For Christ's sake guys...

    New bow purchase at Scheels

Not familiar with Scheels others than the one in Fargo. They seem to always strive for very good bow techs.

    Fencing Deer Movement

WL, yes, I did and will continue to do " wildlife enhancment". I will not EVER build a wire fence where deer have to be funneled into a certain spot to go about their daily lives. Wouldn't do it if a 300" inch deer showed up. I enjoy the (hunt). How many here would do it just to shoot does...

2nd real mild winter in a row.

Rare thing here. Feb 10th 2023, deer were already dieing here from deep snow/ starvation. 3 doe fawns have been feeding under the bird feeder for the past 1/2 hour. Nice sleek fur and nice n plump. (they start getting that fuzzy/ puffed up look when starving) Fun watching them pound the...

    Fencing Deer Movement

This is getting kinda stupid. You wanna make a " fence" to funnel deer, so be it. But when you post a photo on your big, old, wise buck that has eluded you and countless other hunters, make sure you disclose that you built a fence to funnel him to you. Hunt smarter, not harder kinda thing. ,
