    Pheasant rebound…

Me and a buddy walked a couple spots today and got 5. It was a wet son of a gun out there this morning.

    Swans

Same thing happened last year at little wall lake. Of course the many local libs took the opportunity to blame lead shot.

    Shotgun hunting observation

That’s an interesting observation Rob. My group is younger….im the oldest at 44. Also, there’s only 4 of us. We do one push a season, and it’s on the neighbors property, my brother in laws farm is only 130 acres, sitting makes way more sense.

    Iowa Trespassing laws

I guess I’ll stir the pot a little. Does the tower blind mean the neighbors can’t sit on their side of the fence right there. Maybe that’s the best spot for them with a certain wind?

    New Tannery

    First Public Land Buck

I don’t think he could possibly be any sweatier than he was after walking out. The drag wasn’t fun by any means, but it was nice to help a friend, and it was a good workout for a pack mule like me.

Iowa AG supports Public Land Transfer

A huge chunk of public ground in Iowa is owned by the Corps of Engineers, a federal entity. Saylirville, Red Rock, and Rathbun would fall under this.

Iowa AG supports Public Land Transfer

Iowa republicans at it again. They have a strong track record here against outdoorsmen.

    Pheasant Opener

Skip, last year we shot 33 on opening day and probably another 15 throughout the season, I know of one other group that has permission, so I don’t know how many they shoot. I looked it up, this is a 160 acre farm that is all CRP. Good CRP too, not just straight switchgrass.

    Pheasant Opener

8 of us hit one of my pheasant spots yesterday morning. Had a limit by 11:30. Now I just need to figure out how to deer hunt it as we saw 3 good bucks.

    Deer Decoy

I’ve had good luck and bad responses to a doe decoy. Seems like there is no middle ground.

    What's next for Republicans?

To a moderate no party affiliation voter like me, the religious right almost as extreme as the extreme left.

Assuming you have the power in 2024...

There’s a guy from near Boone. He’s put in a ton of CRP and a few restored wetlands….its a gorgeous property! I stopped a few years ago and asked for permission to hunt. I was granted permission….for $50 a gun per day. Something about that didn’t sit right with me, I never went back.
