I think the last guy is definitely and old smart buck and a trophy for sure. That brisket alone makes me think he is 7ish. Probably pushing low 40s on downhill slide.
The first buck hard to age, but looks like a 3.5-4 with good genetics already looks like a 150s buck. Has the tine genetics...
Want something fairly close Glenwood isn't too far will give them a call. The bank is closed next Monday might give them a ring and see what they can do.
my goal obviously was to be ready for the season a long time ago. Well ended up having string issues had bow restrung by a guy in Maryville which took a long time and not sure about the work. Rest is served in incorrectly and having vane contact issues. Anyone have advice or could lend a hand...
I passed two bucks two years in a row and the following year they were shot by someone else..............just saying, I am all for passing young deer if you have a chance at other mature bucks, but looking back at it I wish I would have closed the deal on one of them that I had inside of 10...
If you have stands for a N, NW, and SW wind that pretty much covers the month of November in recent years. I have a section that requires an East wind and not once last November was I able to hunt it. Just not many East winds.
I have some really cool shots of a stud 3.5 (150ish) who is making a scrape in the same oak tree as my stand. Been there since 1st of Sept. The best part is he is coming to it 10-15 minutes before dark. I really want to see him, and I will have to tell myself PUT THE BOW DOWN!
Best of luck, I feel for you. There certainly needs to be more accountability it seems in this profession, it certainly is a niche that needs to be examined much closer in respects to the customer and THEIR trophy.
I'm the same. It is all a guessing game past 4. I remember when Bill Winke was aging deer he shot and then having everyone guess how old they were and then revealing the data when the teeth were aged. It was interesting how close and how far off some were.
Like cataloging your trail cam...
To me, it is like any other hobby I like. I present it to my son and until he is "coachable" and truly shows an interest I don't stress over it or push something on him. I remember as a child my dad pushing trap shooting on me. I have never like it.........I don't want that for my son. At the...
I'm always super paranoid to mess stuff up too early. Our section is near impossible to glass from distance so unless trail cams are showing something at one of the plots I usually don't hunt much until mid Oct. regardless. Good bucks are still nocturnal and showing up in the middle of the night.
