    Field peas

Sounds good. Should I wait to plant the peas with the rye? Will that be too late for the peas? Also, the plot this year is in beans and corn (got 60 lbs. of free corn, so I thought I'd better us it), so I won't be able to do the red clover this fall. Should I wait and plant berseem next spring...

    Field peas

Thanks for the info fellas! Dbltree, our growing season is quite different from yours. I'm in extreme SE Kansas. Last year we planted brassicas on the 15th of Aug. and they turned out incredible. Literally, two feet tall in most places and turnips the size of softballs; granted, the local...

    Field peas

Dbltree, would this work for me next year? Plant berseem clover as early as possible in the spring. Followed by oats/field peas/brassicas the first of Aug? I was thinking by planting later, I wouldn't have to overseed anything and the oats would still be a mid-season draw. Our first frost...

    Clover

Will mowing put a halt to the poison ivy growth, it won't spread at ground level? If so, that sounds good to me, I'd rather not even spot spray the 2-4d if I can avoid it.

    Clover

Dbltree, our clover is up and looking good, but I'm finding out where I got my poison ivy weeks ago. There's quite a bit coming up in the plot, and I was wondering if I could put some 2-4d on it before it really got going. I know I'll kill some clover right around the ivy, but I think I'm...

    Clover

Dbltree, do you know of any sources to purchase berseem clover in smaller quantities? Welters has it listed in 50 lb. bags. Do they sell in bulk? I think next year I'll be getting some for soil improvement purposes.

Looks great dbltree, gives me high hopes for this-coming year!

    dbltree ok?

Good to hear. Hope he shows up before long. I can't go too long without my Dbltree information fix!

    dbltree ok?

Is Paul on vacation? Haven't seen any sign of him in his corner for a few days, which is unusual. I was hoping his family didn't get hit by any of the storms...

    Clover

Dbltree, I managed to get the clover in the ground thursday. I overseeded the alice with a couple. Pounds of ladino. I applied innoculant to the ladino seed with some citris pop, is that going to hurt anything? After I did this I read on a post somewhere in this thread to use water and not soda...

    Clover

Okay, now I see the reason for the confusion. The product I'm using is in granular form and I'll be broadcasting it. I should have been more clear.

    Clover

Dbltree, sorry to bug you on this, I just want to be clear on this. The treflan I'll be using is 2 #s active ingredient for every 10 #s of product. The label calls for 1# of product for every 1300 sq. Ft. For half an acre I was planning on using around 20 #s of product. Does this sound about right?

    Clover

Would I be right to assume "5-7 pounds" is active ingredient? I hope you read this tonight as I will be applying tomorrow. And one more thing, if I apply treflan, I'd take away the option of planting the clover in drilled oats, right? Which route, of the two, would you recommend? Thanks dbltree!!

    New Hunting Boots

I've had great luck with my redhead, bonedry 800's. I guess I'm not as hard on boot as you guys; these have lasted me two years so far and are still pretty much good-as-new. I do take good care of them though -- keep out of the sun and keep them pretty clean when storing for a few weeks at a time.

    Clover

Dbltree, could you give me a little more info. on the treflan you mentioned. It won't harm the clover? I'd like to spray a 1/2 acre plot we're establishing to alice clover, mostly the area is native grass with a very few blackberries to deal with (Will Remedy later on harm the clover?). I burned...

    Clover

dbltree, I was trying to avoid the handling and shipping cost of Welters, but I'm having a hard time finding Alice clover locally. Is ladino clover acceptable? What will I be losing by going with ladino over alice? I'm only planting about a half acre to clover this year, after a year of...

    Kansas VS Iowa?

I haven't seen a shooter in 2 years of hunting. In SE Kansas I haven't shot a buck since '08. Even that year I "settled" for a 3.5 year old. Don't give anyone the wrong idea about normal hunting in KS.

    Kansas VS Iowa?

Just not as many deer, if residents were allowed to shoot 2 bucks a year like Iowa, the buck herd would be wiped out. Also, don't know how much of a problem poaching is in Iowa, but in central and western Kansas, poaching is a HUGE problem -- just nobody around to catch the scumbags. Some...

    RR Alfalfa Approved!

How in the world are they going to regulate that??? My father-in-law is planting about 20 acres for hay and buying extra to plant some 1/4 acre plots with. His supplier said nothing about it, but since he's purchased alfalfa seed for years for hay, probably never crossed his supplier's mind. I...

    RR Alfalfa Approved!

Sorry if this has already been covered. After several years of red tape, RR Alfalfa has been officially cleared. I believe it's being sold as I type this.
