Some of it could be just less people posting about them too. . . . I don't know, it just seemed like there were always a few decent ones shot by now. Good luck guys
Maybe I am imagining it, but it seems like every year some of you have connected on bucks you had patterned during opening week.
The heat and bugs must have really impacted things. . . . . Seems slow on here
All I can say is that I am seeing the same thing. Ours tends to be a property that the bucks don't stay on most of the year anyway, but this year seems even worse.
It'll turn around in 2 - 3 weeks guys . . . .
Waiting for it to cool down and Skeeters to be dead. It is always a good idea to get out and knock the rust off though. Seems like I always forget something my first couple of times out.
We have a bully that if I see I will shoot too. I think he is why other nice deer are not coming over. They might be bigger, but they just don't want to deal with his attitude.
I would shoot him ASAP with a land owner tag if you have one.
I grew up learning the hard way too, but like some others have said, with everything the boys had going on all of the time I am sure that they would not have gone at all if they had to put in as much effort as I did.
Who knows if they will go out as adults, but I wanted to make sure that we had...
I did get one video with a couple of nice youth season target bucks pushing each other around (120"ish). Of course they don't show up when we're sitting there . . .
Ok, if we can get the forecast to drop another 5-10 degrees this weekend might be ok for the youngsters.
We won't be able to get out until Sunday. It would be nice if it wasn't in the 80's.
Sounds promising. If noone else is bowhunting it then it may work out. Noone is early muzzy hunting?? Are you planning to hunt there at all besides bow season?
I have lived this. I hunted a farm for 20 years and then the owner's son took over. He didn't ask me not to hunt, but he let a few of his buddies in. Eventually it ended up being too busy and I hardly saw any decent ones any more. I ended up just not hunting there any more . . .
If you want to...
One of the coolest bucks I ever saw was a 21" wide 6pt with 13"g2's that were massive. I'm a sucker for them, but I agree that you don't want those genetics. Have a youth hunter that would be tickled to shoot him?
