October and early November were filled with quite a few slow sits for me. I misjudged the yardage on an old buck I was targeting on October 30th and gave his belly a trim which still pains me.
November 13th I was in a new tree on a property that is filled with honeysuckle - I absolutely...
I have never trapped but have noticed a huge uptick in raccoons on a bunch of trail cameras this fall. I'm thinking simple dog proofs is my best bet to take some out.
I sat deep in some big timber this morning and had pretty good movement - one pretty nice buck at first light but not enough light to really see what he was. I saw a couple 1.5 and 2.5 year olds out cruising and then around 10:30am a nice 3.5 year old cruised by.
Tonight I hunted a different...
Sold in 2021 for $721k (without the cabin/shed I believe) then just sold for 1.1mil in August 2023. Now listed at 1.7mil. Absolutely bonkers. I wish I could go back 4 years...
Any reports in Southern or SE Warren county? I haven't found any but we aren't getting many bucks in general on camera unlike previous years and none are older.
Any feedback on it? Is your kid towards the lower end of the weight range? That is my only concern, my kid is about 10 lbs under the "suggested" weight range.
My oldest is 4.5 years old and he thinks he wants to try and sit in a treestand with me. A ladder stand with a safeline will be what he's climbing but does anyone have suggestions on a safety harness for a 4 year old who weighs roughly 40 pounds?

I see no downside to it and I am more than happy to take the few seconds and get them data that they believe will be useful. If you're fine with giving the length of a turkey spur then I'm not sure why you are opposed to an over/under measurement of the beam.
The DNR is always under funded...
Last week in October and last two weeks of November. I haven't been real fond of November 1st-17th ish. To me, the big ones are locked down and its mainly younger bucks out looking during those first two weeks in November. Your later dates are what I'd prefer between those two options. Good luck!
Does anyone in the Des Moines/Warren County area have some extra (1/2 acre worth) of the dbltree mix or know where to get some close by? I have rye covered but looking for some additional - rape, oats, peas, radish?

IBH - are you no-tilling into that, tilling, or just broadcasting? We have an acre that was previously clover that we just killed off and are going to do brassicas and just have an ATV with disc and cultipacker. Curious as to how we should attack it.
