There is a 60 gallon model may be Fimco not sure alot of friends and clients have them and they are a lower profile and have the option of boomless they work ok. They work better with a seperate deep cycle battery than off the machines power source.I think that is in your price range new.
I...
I have an equip contract with 8-10 acres to clear like that. Mine is mostly cedars and locust the cost share is really low about 250-275 an acre for the clearing.
The Cedars are full canopy in spots and 12-16 inch dbh. Thought about renting a shear for my skidloader but may just get them with...
For the last 3 springs we have had a hen nesting on my Lucas co home farm that was fitted with a transmitter. Yesterday i got a call from one of the biologist that they had a mortality signal and asked if they could go look. Unfortunately that was the case he said 50% chance disease and...
One thing that works for me is to turn on your track feature that ONX has. It will at least show big misses. I have GPS in one tractor and one side by side but this map was spraying sunflowers yesterday with a boomless rig..
Your best and cheapest option assuming horse weed is Marestail, is to spray your roundup to kill the grasses then disc or till to get the hard weeds then plant.
The biggest thing that this changes is now hunters cannot build points and still hunt OTC.
Applying for a limited entry tag will use any points. Very glad to see States putting residents and the resource first.
The strange part is I think they left NR rifle OTC. I don’t hunt Colorado much so I...
If you are unsure the growth stage of the Switch and Miscanthus I would mow as high as needed to still get light to the seedlings. Then try the quinclorac in 2-3 weeks. If this was just Miscanthus I would spray the Quinclorac is may burn the edges of the leaves but wont do permanent harm.
Great podcast can’t wait to hear the rest of the series. With more info like this hopefully some other States can fix there problems and take some pressure off Iowa.
The increase in the online leasing maybe a consequence of removing party hunting. Guys that party hunted each year that they didn’t draw have farms “setup” and may be trying to recoup the investment. There are not any License requirements for a Guiding or Outfitting business in Iowa. These types...
Walnuts like a well drained soil,to start from an open field i would go with a direct nut seeding.I would include some fast growing silver maple or as mentioned box elder. i would try to collect the walnuts to plant from trees that have the genetics you are looking for.
Looks good, as to wait for the next Farm Bill I would enroll now if you like the rates. Getting the cover established now has some time value.
As to the plan the only change i would make is clover fire breaks along the timber edges 20-30 feet wide. Makes burning easier.
Very well said Hardwood 11. My thought is my nonresident friends are some of the better Conservation minded people in my area. I am concerned that this and other future challenges will disenfranchise them to the point of leaving Iowa. I think if this happens the resource will suffer.
This is a major grey area the way they are conveying this. To me it is either ban there use completely during all open deer seasons or do not change anything.
As an aside, I hunt or help friends in AZ every year which has banned all cameras completely I do feel the resource is better for it.
Post the results for sure. I have a drill and it would be easier with that.
20 pounds an acres sounds like a high seed rate but I can’t remember the seeds per pound. 1 got 3 plots planted Mother’s Day and a couple more this past weekend.
Would there be support for legislation that would only allow each Iowa resident to only Harvest a maximum of 2 Bucks per year. There would still be floating Landowner tags and your state wide tags but only 2 of which could be filled with antlered Deer.
