    Back in bees?

Curious here. I always wondered what would happen if I put out a few hives and just let them go. You think they would all just die? What kind of attention would they require? I would like to have bees on my place just for the sake of having them. I’d love to do it and still buy my honey...

    Creating recreational opportunities

It’s actually on the list. If you listen to podcasts, you should listen to the Meat Eater from a couple weeks ago about dire wolves. The guest was from the company Colossal. Good listen IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bought a Planter, JD 7000

Can you post a picture? I thought all of the row units came predrilled. That front plate is pretty big though. Almost think you could find enough surface to get a mag drill to stick. I guess it depends on the size of the drill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Switchgrass

I can only tell you what I did. I found post 2363 to be helpful along with my post 2314 which is classic switchgrass. I also tend to post pictures here of what I believe to be switch and others help me understand how I am wrong... :p

    Switchgrass

Any thoughts on Duracor or Quinclorac timing? I planted some switch again May 1st. Can see some baby plants, but some areas are so choked with foxtail you can't see anything. Would the Quinclorac smoke little switch seedlings? Also seeing some palmer and pigweed sprouts. Is it too soon for Duracor?

Anyone know what plant this is?

I'm going on 42 years in rural Kansas and I know that as buckbrush. What kind of weirdo calls it coralberry... ;) I always guessed it was called that because bucks like it. They do use it, but as was mentioned earlier we have it everywhere so its hard to tell if the use is heavy or not.

Wait until DSM catches wind of this

I'd be on board for this if it were limited to Oklahoma Public Lands only. Extending it to federal lands seems a stretch.

    Switchgrass

Looking at about 2 more weeks before I spread my switch seed. I have an opportunity to spray the area with gly tomorrow and may be a while before I get another chance if at all. Is it too early to put down my simazine? Thinking early is better than not at all if I don't get another chance...

    AMS Help

I have used this many times and it works great. Really helps gly uptake IMO. https://www.drexchem.com/products/ams-supreme/

    The Talk

I would cook for him. If he says it turned out great, tell him it was a doe. If he didn't like it, tell him it was the buck he shot. He'll start shooting does.

    Alfalfa

Alfalfa always surprises me. I can go out on the coldest days and there is a little tuft of green at the base of the plant. Love it!

    Harvesting switchgrass seed

I took an empty milk jug once and cut a hole in the upper portion opposite the handle. I carved the bottom of the opening into teeth to trap the seed heads. I would rake the seed heads into the opening and the teeth would strip the seeds into the jug. It was imperfect, but on a small scale I had...

    Deere 7000 planter

That looks like a good machine! Few observations I have: meters look clean, has a lift cylinder, tongue is straight, tires appear in decent condition. I would guess that to be a 4 row wide as the marker arms look longer than my narrow. It is a plateless which is far superior IMO. I would jump...

    Spots in March

Would you all say that one has a huge head start on its cohort? Or is it incredibly behind? That is almost exactly 6 months off… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    John Deere 7000

Look at this freak. Found a contact drive from a Kinze 3500 on Big Iron. I had to source new (bigger) wheels from a Kinze 3600 to make it work. This is my favorite part of having an old mechanical planter. Lots to tinker with. Next up will be calibrating it. I don’t know where to start…...
