What's the habitat, pressure like immediately surrounding your farm? It sounds like hunters around you aren't shooting the first APR legal buck (or any buck if not in APR county) they see.

That's definitely most of the old bucks I've seen in person and on camera. There's a few ghosts around that have some head gear.

Driving up to Omaha on I-29 is a dense stand of annual sunflowers. I can’t imagine the amount of game that would find this attractive through winter. It’s a good double the height or more of the fence post in the foreground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All my habitat work centers on making as much cover as possible that is also food. How many acres do you have in crops/timber or brush/crp?

Didn't see very many does with twin fawns this year from sightings or cameras. I'd agree the coyotes are a big reason for that.

Just goes to show the biggest issue with upland game birds is habitat. You could have trapped your heart out back when there were a few dozen birds and not seen any improvement. There's guys moving 7 coveys a day still in MO on farms managed for upland game bird habitat.

There's a pile of choices out there. Probably the most highly sought after is Blue Hill. You have to be on line the day of ordering for most of the varieties. https://bluehillwildlifenursery.com/ I also like Whitetail Crabs, you can still get a lot of their varieties last I checked...

Passed some good young deer. The two bucks in this first pic put on a show. The one buck snort wheezed at the other buck. This young 10 has a lot of potential. My son shot this buck opening evening. The moment just before the shot.

That's the sign that this isn't sustainable. Some type of correction is due as it simply can't double every 5 years in perpetuity.

I sure hope people are paying cash for these farms.... People said $750 an acre was too much for rec land in northern MO 20 years ago.
