I have used the brown jersey gloves with a muff for years. I did buy some closeouts at Walmart that are like the underarmour gloves that I will try this year. As long as you cover up the white hand moving and you are still consistent with your anchor point go with something thin and keep a muff...
I bought a couple of bur outs? They look like a big piece of pumice stone and they work pretty well for taking out most everything I encounter. I think they have a website if you do a search. They work pretty well for fleece as well even with the stick tites or wild velcro I like to call it.
I found a 140" buck on Monday in Monona County, but I am not sure if it was EHD. It was near a small water hole below the dam, but it could have been hit by car and make it that far also. I have heard of others in Monona that have found sick and dead deer. I just hope that is the only one.
Looks like a nice bunch of salmon. What did you end up doing with them smoking or fresh fillets? We hit the red run in Alaska again this summer and had a plenty for smoking then putting in a can and fresh fillets.
Joe,
I have cleaned a lot of turtles and there isn't a great way to clean them. I have heard the air method takes some of the work out of it. If you don't care about the shell or plan to keep it you can cut off the nervous system and the legs will go limp which helps when cleaning if they...
I have been using blazers on aluminum arrows for a few years and haven't noticed any problem. if your bow is tuned properly you should be able to shoot a bare shaft or that is what I have been told.
I will agree that they have a sense of the dates of the season. I told somebody the only reason I filled my archery tag on the last day was because of the leap year and the turkeys didn't know it. The extra day may have thrown him off and thought he was safe.
I shot him on the other farm. The 2nd bird I shot did come on the place north of you and he did have a little deeper gobble than the rest but not like raspy.
First off congrats to all who have filled tags in this unusual spring.
This year has been an unusual spring for me. I had shoulder surgery in Jan. and couldn't pull my bow when season rolled around so I borrowed a crossbow and got a temp permit to use it. After shooting it a little I was not...
I slipped out this morning for a quick hunt and had a hen pop out near me followed by some little ones. Seems awful early for them to be hatched and moving around! Seen 6 other hens that were out picking around in the field that never had any followers.
Nice bird Joe. Guess I am not the only one hunting that has birds leaving after seeing a blind or decoys. Have you had any trespassers or have they just been in our area?
I haven't had a mushroom season like this since 1987. I can email the pic of the clump if someone has time to post it. It was taken with my phone and it doesn't show all of them due to the angle I had to take it.
I will try and get a pic downloaded of a clump of mushrooms that I found a week ago. I kept them in a bag of their own and weighed it when I got home and was surprised that it was 3lb 11oz. That night we found 58lbs in 2 hrs and could of picked more if we had more bags. It has been a great year...
