7lbs under one tree

Found a small hot spot of yellow morels under one tree Sunday.

Had to call dad since he hadn't picked many this year, he ended up finding the biggest one

The haul. 80 yellows picked, 12 left back since they were pretty nasty and moldy. 7lbs total.

I may have quit looking to soon, Jordan. I found my best ones 10 days ago, and just some crumbly yellows last week. I have friends by Pisgah that were finding some big patches on March 31st, and still finding a few here and there.

Seemed that each hunt I would find a tree or two where I would get the majority of that days haul.

Thats awesome!! That one your Dad found is huge it probably weighed a pound itself!!

I will try and get a pic downloaded of a clump of mushrooms that I found a week ago. I kept them in a bag of their own and weighed it when I got home and was surprised that it was 3lb 11oz. That night we found 58lbs in 2 hrs and could of picked more if we had more bags. It has been a great year so far and last night we picked 8lbs and felt like we almost got skunked.

I haven't had a mushroom season like this since 1987. I can email the pic of the clump if someone has time to post it. It was taken with my phone and it doesn't show all of them due to the angle I had to take it.
