    Next steps??? Need advice...

I've read every page of Doubletree's posts... I want to do clover. My question is really... do I try for a frost seeding of clover in a month or so, or do I need to let it grow up and then kill / spray it? Thanks. Steve

    Next steps??? Need advice...

So I've just had 2 1/2 acres opened up for a food plot. I've got my soil test results back, and I'm planning on getting lime down as soon as possible. This area was overgrown pasture that had cedars and other brush / junk on it. My question is... WHAT DO I DO NOW??? My intention is to have it...

OUCH! You ever see something like this?

Could have easily been a close call with a car that wound up with him getting clipped by a mirror or something? MONSTER bucks though... WOW. Steve

Is Roundup the best thing to spray with to kill the undergrowth?

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

Hey guys... a bit more info... I've read every page of Dbltrees clover (and most of the other) posts. That's what got me fired up about doing it! Even with all that great info, I just wanted to make sure that the specifics of my situation were being addressed. There's SO much good info on here...

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

I like that idea. I want to do it right, but at the same time, the idea of having to wait until next fall isn't something that I'm too excited about. With just 1/2 acre, I'm guessing that the price difference between red clover and white clover won't be a deal breaker. I'll go with white and...

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

So what if I did something like this: 1. Clear now 2. Spray early spring (late march?) 3. Throw down some oats 4. Early fall - Spray with RU 5. Mid Fall (Mid September?) Till it up & plant clover? Thanks!

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

So I'm assuming that by waiting until next fall to plant, I can make sure that I've killed all of the weeds and undesirable stuff? What about an early spring spraying (early april?) and then planting? I hate to lose the whole year, but I understand that killing everything next spring / summer...

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

I was planning on putting in clover, yes. Probably following Dbltree's advice in that area. Just want to make sure I get the prep work done correctly.

Clearing for foodplot question... Order of events?

I've got a great little half acre food plot area selected and I'm getting ready to clear it. This seems like the perfect time to clear now that most of the vegetation is "down". Do I need to spray it with something, or should I just start cutting (small trees, thorn bushes etc...) and then till...

    Clearing some acreage.

I'm getting ready to clear off a 2 or 3 acre portion of land to convert it to food plots. Timing wise I'm hoping to have it cleared by Jan 1. I want to go with clover, should I be frost seeding in February? I've read a bunch about how fall seeding is better than spring seeding. What other...

    Backwoods Foodplot. Questions.

And as far as stumps go, just work around them? Do you try and put anything on them to get them to rot out quicker?

    Backwoods Foodplot. Questions.

I've got a little .4 acre spot in a creek bottom that I want to convert to a food plot. It's currently brush / woods, with some decent sized trees on it. I know that the area / ground will work, cause my neighbor has done a similar thing. My question (or FIRST question I should say) is can I do...

Management question - Food Plot / Bedding Area?

This has a BUNCH of cedars all over it, and I also found a "grove" of persimmons stuck in the middle. Going to leave the persimmons and maybe a few of the cedars, but it sure looks like an awesome spot for a plot. I'm hoping for the same results...

Management question - Food Plot / Bedding Area?

I have a general management question. I've got a piece of ground that is all woods except for an 8 acre overgrown pasture. WAY overgrown. Real good bedding cover. Except it's so thick you can barely walk through it. I don't have any other open areas on this piece of ground. I want to clear a...
