I prefer storing the acorns alone in bags. Last year was the first year I had tried it and it seemed to work well. I usually use some damp peat for half and the other half I store with nothing. That's my personal preference!
I think they may be a hybrid but I wasn't sure. Not real familiar with English, the leaves and other acorns that hadn't fallen yet were a lot more rounded not as oval
Anyone been out collecting acorns? Some have been starting to drop around me. I also ordered 1/2 a pound of DCO's from Troy Pabst in Nebraska and was very happy, received them very quick. Here's some of the dcos, bur white and swamp whites I collected from today
Found him about 200 yards away in the middle of the neighbors pasture. Got both lungs arrow passed all the way through but most of the blood was pooled up inside him which is why he was hard to track. I would upload pics but my phone isn't letting me!
Shot a buck tonight around 4:00... Thought it was a good shot. Right behind the shoulder at about 20 yards. Buck ran off with my arrow still in him. I tried to trail him until dark but I'm not finding much blood at all. A few drops 50 yards from where I shot him and another drop where he jumped...
I've been looking at Chinese chestnuts because they seem to be easier to buy and cheaper then dunstans and don't have to worry about blite. When is a good time to plant them?
I've been growing oak trees in rootmakers for about 4 years now and I've began to want to get more diversity and have found a lot of good info on chestnuts and it has really interested me and I would like to hear more from others. My limitation is I don't have a local source to collect chestnuts...

Got quite a few trees growing already planning on planting early this spring so they have a good start! Had to just use some old random pots for some of the trees the rest are 1 gal rootmakers
