Input on some hunts you would like to see!!

-Calling and bowhunting coyotes from a treestand -S.E. Nebraska bobcat hunt in December (I understand that bobcats are protected in Iowa...but not mountain lions!)

    Choke tubes

I retrofitted my Browning BPS 12 gauge with a turkey choke made my Carlsons. It's put quite a few birds on the ground so far.

Here's a cool pic of what the inside of one of those nests looks like:

    blades for arrows

[ QUOTE ] does anyone use expandables? has anyone tryed the spitfires?? [/ QUOTE ] No, sorry, no expandable shooters on this site. (Just kidding, Alan!) There are plenty of folks that shoot and swear by (or at) expandable broadheads. Personally, I shoot fixed blade G5 Montecs and...

Biggest scrape I have ever seen!

Either a deer scrape or the litter box for a mountain loin!

    warm gloves

[ QUOTE ] I wear gloves/mittens like the ones Nebraska posted pics of. My hands tend to get cold easily. I stuff a hand warmer inside the glove on the back of my hand, then one inside the flap that goes over my fingers. I occasionally loose the one inside the flap when I get ready to shoot...

    warm gloves

[ QUOTE ] I am fortunate enough to have good circulation but when it really gets cold (below zero) I have had good luck with the arctic shield glove system. [/ QUOTE ] I'll second that. The ArcticShield System Glove has an a lightweight inner glove that you can wear when it's not so cold...

    Arrow Retirement?

I'm wondering if Muddy is still shooting his "lucky arrow". How many deer has that thing passed through, Mudster?

    Cold weather gear

I'm on my second season with some ArticShield insulated bibs. Can't say I've ever gotten cold in them

    Arrow Retirement?

As Gold Tip's arrows say on the label, "Flex First" before shooting. As long as your carbon arrows aren't cracked, they should be fine to keep shooting.

Arrows; who has had one explode??

Never had one of my Gold Tips explode nor have I ever seen one explode. This photos and a couple of others were making the rounds awhile back on the various archery forums. Don't know any details about it:

    Monster KS buck

I've loaded a deer like that in my pickup before - and then the alarm went off and woke me up!

Do land owners have any say?

[ QUOTE ] Isn't there something that states only the hunter that wounded the animal may track in un-armed? [/ QUOTE ] ...and in some states (like this one) you can't go on someone's private property without their permission - even to track a wounded animal.

Should Iowa require plugged guns during shotgun?

Re: Should Iowa require plugged guns during shotgu [ QUOTE ] I've always wondered why there was a three shot limit on water fowl. Is it because if you wait for them to flair they are (relatively) easy pickins? I've never duck/goose hunted so I don't understand. Limiting the gun and hunter to...

    whats it worth?

[ QUOTE ] I wouldn't guess much since you can actually by the gun with that barell stock for around 200 bucks. I would think you could get something out of it but I wouldn't get your hopes up. [/ QUOTE ] I guess it would make a difference if it is for an 870 Wingmaster (blued finish) or an...

    whats it worth?

Cabela's will sell you one of those barrels new for $150. It's worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it (as my Dad always says). If it's new, or nearly so, with all of the choke tubes, I'd think you should at least be able to get a Benjamin Franklin for it.

    Define Fair Chase....

[ QUOTE ] The cool thing about this forum is sharing sometimes "thought provoking" ideas and challenging each other to be better sportsmen and ethical hunters. I read NW's link and I think these words kind of sum up the fact that we all have differing thoughts on fair chase and ethical...
