Turns out that maybe taking the day off and the crappy warm weather yesterday paid off. Seen a fair amount of movement early in the morning. Passed a wild looking deer I probably was crazy for and ended up shooting the #1 target we had on this farm 20 min later. I guess I was wrong. I was just...
Have Had this conversation with buddies a lot. No doubt in my mind it’s a huge factor. No different than feeding out livestock. Pour the “good” feed to them the healthier and better they grow. Those guys don’t hide the fact they are pumping feed to them. No reason they should. They have the...
Been busted opening a window before so bow hunting i always leave that main shooting window open. Late season with heater on, different story. Cost my boy a nice buck last year late season though trying to open a window. Does were to close already and they spooked taking 2 shooters with them.
Work in the offseason and shoot a doe first. Passed 4 bucks on first day of youth. 2 nice 8pt and one 150 inch ten that we have pics of. They weren’t happy about that. Lol. shot the first nice doe that presented a good shot and he was shaking just as much as if it was a 180. No clamp on rest...
No right or wrong answer. I enjoy reading other peoples ideas. Other than them filling a doe tag before a buck tag rule I'm pretty much shoot whatever makes you happy category. Last year no buck tags were filled and they passed on plenty all on their own. DMar I'm stealing your games idea and...
Our rule as always been they take a doe during youth season first. Then a buck during one of the gun seasons. They rotate every year on who goes first for each and they both have a good understanding of taking a mature deer or like the last couple of years a bully buck. They've each been...
Buddy of mines dad had a tower blind out in his CRP and got told by someone from the FSA office that that was not allowed. After going round and round and few choice words along with his a$$nine reasons why he couldn't have his blind there he had to buy back like 1/64 of an acre for around 10...
I tried putting in 3 different ones this spring in food plots. I used cedar posts that were already cut for some fencing. Attached a 2 inch pvc pipe that I can slide branches into and pivot to adjust height. Hopefully they will rub the cedar. I have noticed I need to lower the branches or maybe...
I had a deer on cam few years back that had broken front leg that blew up from a 3 year old to a 4 yr old (best guess on age) to a sweet non typical with big drop. He would of pushed 200 I think. He disappeared that august and never seen him again.
I bet this deer blows up even more next year...
I met with forester last week to look at doing this same exact thing. I definitely need to do something. I have a ton of young hickory and very little under brush or cover. We talked about what needed to be done and possibly applying for the reap program. Is that worth doing and being somewhat...
Dry here as well but I went ahead and seeded couple turnip plots this weekend hoping for once the forcast is actually right and we get some rain mid week. Fingers crossed.
I like a lot of things about Scott. He did a small gathering here locally and he was great. Very down to earth and treated a few people I know that helped run the event very well. I really think he could solve a few of this countries issues and unite people vs divide like Trump and Biden.
All I know is my tractor time is like my deer stand time and if I can't sit my butt in a tractor in the fall and spring I'm going to become an even more unbearable a$$ as my wife would put it.
