    Am I to late?

Here is a broadcast I did late last year (June 15ish) and it turned out pretty well. I just tilled, broadcasted and drove over with my truck. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1274817483284551/permalink/1911561666276793/

    Boots recommendations for western hunt

I ran Danner pronghorns when I first started out west, which were ok, then I went to a fancy 450 boot (Zamberlan maybe) that made my feet kill and were heavy. I have finally settled on Hoka hiking boots, and they are the cat's ass for my purposes in the elk mountains. Light, good cushioning...

    Diversity Pockets

I thought of that. I have a stand that I burned, and after I did that, it got so thick it's almost impenetrable. I think just letting go should fit the bill. We will see I guess.

    Diversity Pockets

Here is some pics of our diversity pocket planting day. Had a great crew, a dingo and really nice trees from the nursery. Knocked out 350 trees in about 3 hours. Just need to protect them now. The pic of the bar is from the nursery! WI knows how to keep workers happy! Diversity pocket planting...

Red Flag Warnings last Sat & Sun

Sorry to hear this. I cant imagine losing all the work (labor/time) we have put into my property. Replacing 5 and 10+ year trees with saplings would not be cool. This is why I was happy to pay the local fire department a few hundred bucks to come out and do my controlled switch burn. 99%...

    Pedestal Mounts

Here is one I did with just heavy base. I prefer it to the other here i did with barwire and a post. The later wants to fall over all the time and isn't as sturdy.

    Diversity Pockets

Slowly getting my improvements in place. When I bought this chunk in 2020 it was a long standing (50 years +) of cow pasture and limited cover. I frost seeded the existing bean stubble red irregular shaped area (west side of trout stream) in RC Tecumseh (about 5 acres) last week and the plan...

    Sapling Fertilizer?

    Dogwood cuttings

I have a tree under my deck that I've been using in town as my source. Maybe the source can be the issue? I also have about 100 planted on my property Silky and Red Osier that I bought planted and tubed as bare root that all did awesome. Might try cuttings from those as they are big enough...

    Dogwood cuttings

I've had minimal luck in SE MN as well. Both Hybrid Willows and Dogwood haven't faired well. Less than 5% success. However, it is free to try, I guess. Only lost time.

    Your best chestnut recommendations??

I'd say it depends where you are located, but I would test the waters with a small volume regardless of what you buy to see if they will work. You didn't mention pears, but I have had amazing luck with Kieffer pears. Very hardy and growing rapidly for me

    Tax on Switchgrass seed?

Honestly, wasnt aware of this company. However, now that I look, they dont carry Tecumseh, which is my preferred variety.

    Tax on Switchgrass seed?

Odd, I had them double check with "someone who knows" and they confirmed that Switch is not considered farm seed and that I had to pay tax. For 60 bucks, I'm tempted call them back.

    Tax on Switchgrass seed?

I mean, I guess we get more like Canada all the time.....lol

    Tax on Switchgrass seed?

Are you guys paying tax on Switchgrass Seed? I just ordered some RC Tecumseh from Albert Lea Seed and had to pay 60 bucks in tax on my $750 order, and it seemed like I didn't have to last time, but I could be wrong. They said it's because it isn't considered an agricultural seed....seems like...

    Your best chestnut recommendations??

I will be curious if this extended cold stretch zaps a bunch of this year. I dont think they tolerate super cold winters when young, from my experience. We shall see.
