I was able to sqeeze in some vacation Friday, so I decided to sit in a stand I have on some public land in the morning. By 8:45 several does and five young bucks passed my stand. Just before 9:00 four does came up the trail, following 50 yards behind was a decent buck. The does bedded down about twenty yards from me while the buck laid down in some heavy cover about 60 yards away. After an hour a decent 8 pointer came in to check on the does, this got the bigger buck on his feet. I debated whether to take him, but when he offered a seven yard quartering away shot I couldn't resist - a clean pass through and he dropped within sight. Can't beat that...An 11 pointer.
