1972 Iowa Monster

Oh my gosh! I never thought I'd see him again! I remember the hunt like it was yesterday. I was 8 years old and already considered to be seasoned hunter. It was my last year as a resident hunter in Iowa so I wanted to make it a good one.

It was a frosty November morning with a rising barometer with no wind and a 21 degree temperature. Conditions were perfect. The smell of pending death hung in the air heavier than a Strongheart dog fart.

I knocked an arrow on my Lil' Brave bow string....

Sorry about gettting to this post a little late.
Here's the story. A customer of mine brought me a cape last year, and wanted it to mounted with some antlers, from a deer, that his dad shot back in 1972.
He brought the antlers a few months later, and WOW was I impressed. Heck, in 1972, my dad would stop the family car, if we saw a deer, but to know this roamed the timber back then, is pretty awesome.
It was taken in Iowa, ( I dont know exactly where, and if I did it wouldnt be polite to say). It does have a 27 inch inside spread.
It was never mounted before, remember it was 1972, look how far deer hunting has come.
I was proud to mount this for the man that took this deer, (he is still alive and hunting). Just thought this would make a nice topic for a thread.

I had a Rottweiler a few years ago. I ran out of dog food a grabbed a couple of cans of "Stongheart" brand dog food. BIG MISTAKE!
