2 Clover questions

1. I have a .3 acre patch of clover newly frost seeded this year on the edge of my 4 acre bean plot. The soil is sandy and the clover isn't coming up good but the soybeans are thriving. Does clover do poorly in sandy soils? Do I just need to fertilize? What do you guys plant in sandy soils with 10+ hour sun exposure per day?

2. I have frost seeded clover patches (Probably 2.5 acres) total in real good soil and I let the weeds get out of control trying to allow the clover to establish a good root structure. I just mowed 5 foot tall weeds down. Is it worth spraying 2 times this summer (Cleth and butyrac) still or just killing it off and replanting? Looks like there is clover in the weeds still but some of these weeds have stalks for stems at this point and just full of moisture when I mowed.

Beans put down a tap root so can scavenge moisture far better than clover.

For sandy soils consider alfalfa in lieu of clover.

Id reassess clover a dew weeks after mowing. You might be surprised.
Agree on reassessment in a couple weeks. I've mowed some off first time in July with 5'+ weeds/rye, and had success. I was actually mowing to prep for spraying for green plots when i discovered this. I returned to spray in like 10 days or so from mowing the jungle, and was surprised phenomenal clover that we kept. Post up a photo in a couple weeks!
