2 or 3 Blade Rage for Turks?

THA4

A Few Steps Ahead Of You
Alright..... I will be eating plenty of crow for this... so serve it up

I'm gonna go to Kansas and try to shoot a couple turks with a bow.... I know, I know... I swore I never would, but I want to get out early in KS and archery is the only way to get it done before Iowa's season.

I have been doing a lot of reading and asking around, and have decided to go with Rage broadheads for this. My question is which do you think would be more effective, 2 Blade or 3 Blade???

You couldn't pay me to use RAGE for turkeys. I use them for deer but not turkeys. The 2 inch only has 2 blades so that is out. The 3 inch is only a 1.5 inch cut so that is out.

Buy a pack of Rocket Hammerheads and be done with it. 2 inch cut 3 blade. Rages will kill a turkey no doubt but in my opinion there are better heads out there.

I think the magnus bullhead would most likely be the way to go but I haven't stepped up to that plate yet.

I dont know if would be problem with turkeys or if the have changed the design. But we were shooting deer with the three blade rage and had some problems with them malfunctioning on quarting shoots. One blade would deploy earlier than the other two locking one of the blades down.

I would go with the two blade worked good last year.

Good points, thats what I'm leaning towards. I got a buddy that has killed 6 with two-blade rages and put a massive holes in the birds, just like in deer. I have the same reservations about the three blade rages....

As far as hammerheads, no thanks, don't like the rubber band thing...... I have seen the devastation on turks with rages and know they work.

If you have your hard head made up to use rages go with the two blade. Before i switched to bullheads 20 or so Toms fell to jak hammers plus the ones that Scott shot. The are devastating.

I'm not 100% on that. I certainly don't like how much the rages cost.... :(

I like the price on those...... I don't like to agree with you more than I have to ;) but you did kill a lot of gobbies with those things....

but still

Bigger hole is better, no question about that no matter what you use. If you use Rage, watch out for the front of the blind. Can be difficult to keep the blades closed because they catch on a lot of crap.

Doesn't the Rage also have the mickey mouse rubber bands?

not that hold the blades in.

Im not sure what I'm gonna do....

Might just get a Claymore and put it out there and push the button when they get close.

The rubber band on the rage does hold the blades in except it is more of a compression fitting but still an o-ring holding them in. Claymores would work!!
