Well I ended my vacation early this morning. About 8 oclock this morning I had 4 bucks dogging a young doe back and forth through this fairly open but dense with trees pine patch. They were all about 100 yards away. They were going nuts with the grunting and chasing. I was all riled up from the commotion. It was the best rut action I had seen all year. I kept getting a glimpse of this buck as he was running through the trees but never got a great look at him. He was the biggest of the 4. Finally the doe took off down by the creek with all four bucks in pursuit. He stopped at about 110 yards through the timber and it was either shoot or don't shoot. I couldn't hold back. After the shot he just stood there for like a second which seemed like an eternity. I was like OH CRAP, I missed!! All the sudden he turned and took off on a death run right at me. At about 15 yards he centered an 8inch pine tree and wrapped around it. He was done. It was definitely a neat hunt. Unfortunately, back to work tomorrow though :drink2:
