a couple years ago the buck in my avatar was quartered away pretty hard and took a step right as i was trying to slide an arrow behind his last rib. long story short, i hit him in the exact same spot as you, but the arrow actually went all the way through him and stuck in the opposite front shoulder. he was dead inside 80 yards.
