Buddy of mine who is a longtime deer/turkey guide in Western Iowa invited me to go in on his lease this year. Went up there(from Okla) Memorial weekend to check it out. I am overwhelmed ! This land has it all. Showed me trail cams with bucks from last year. (140's to 180's ) Now all I have to do is draw. I put my money in for the lease already so I hope I'm not out $$$. Got a preference pt. from last year and I have never failed to get a tag with a point in that zone (knock on wood) I'm one county south of where I usually hunt(Woodbury) . Monona Co. , anyone here hunt there? I am very familiar with it. Thinking maybe someone would want to meet at Fat Boyz in Moorhead for a drink :drink2:in Nov. I have 3 weeks off. Can't wait!!
 
Hunted out there last year. Slept in my truck one night at the ball field in Moorehead in September, went out to scout one last time and it got dark before I was done, decided to be cheap and sleep in the truck instead of get a hotel room and hang a couple stands in the AM.
 
Monona county has some awesome ground, very rugged terrain, but awesome! I usually shotgun hunt the area around Moorehead and then to the south towards Little Sioux as well. Good luck with the draw!
 
Yeah its rugged ,but, my buddy has all those ridges figured out. Getting good trail photos already. Couple bucks running together with split brows. Nice big fat antlers too. Can't wait!

I'm sure you're beyond excited to get back and hunt them. It's only going to get better. Good luck getting a decents night sleep once your cam pics start rolling in....espescially once October rolls around.
