This year I finally got my brother convinced to come and go hunting with me. He wasn't hunting just out there doing a little calling. We got to the farm around 5:30 opened the truck door and heard the gobble, the same place we had heard them on Sunday morning, this isn't their typical spot but oh well we were off and after them. We got the decoys up and situated. About 6:00 here come 2 gobblers running out of the timber. These birds hung up at 85 yards and sat there and gobbled their brains off for about 30 minutes before turning and going after the hens in the timber. We did a big loop to get in front of them. Well they didn't venture as far as we were expecting so we start back at them. Made a move and before I could get seated on of them was there. 40 yards. I was sitting in a very awkward spot. No gun rest. After about 3 minutes of holding the gun he finally got out from behind the tree that was all she wrote. There were lots of high fives and fist pumps as we don't get to do this very often. It was a special hunt with my brother. I hope we get to have a few more in the near future.
25lbs. 9 inch beard and 1 inch spears. and a bunch of busch lights.
