What an exciting hunt! I have been seeing a group of birds using a field the last couple weeks so Tuesday after work I slipped in and set up my blind on the edge of this 15 acre hay field.
Got off work and was in the blind at 4:50 pm on Wednesday afternoon. Around 5:30 two hens made their way into the field and into the decoys. Shortly after they got real nervous and began clucking and carrying on. Out of the corner of my eye I see movement and there is a bobcat 5 yards from my decoys giving them a stare down. He quickly made his way into the timber behind me and out of sight.
At 7:05 pm two toms come out at 100 yards and read the script perfectly. If I would have had another tag in my pocket the second bird gave me plenty of opportunities while he was beating up my strutter.
