2015 Rut and what does it mean for 2016

For me the 2015 rut was kinda a flop. Yea I had some days that were ok (chasing etc) But it didn't seem "normal" For example like one day activity was humming. The next 2 would be just dead. I hunted really hard this year. And really didn't see the amount of bucks I normally do. I seen a total of 4 mature bucks this year. In the past I've seen 4 or 5 a night, on a great night.

Did anyone else see this???
And what does this mean for the 2016 rut?

Same here bud!! And the only thing that it means is it can't get any worse so hopefully next year is better! All we can ask is for a better moon phase when those special times of the year come around! But this was the issue with many many hunters out there!

Generally the areas I hunt were better this yr. Doe populations were better and bucks were more visible.

Same my area. Little chasing. Still more does than many years. Not one buck seem followin any does? Maybe lots of night activity. Was mild and full moon beginin of rut

I only hunted 4 days before I wa tagged out on November 9 , but I did not see much rut activity, just a few bucks out searching. It seemed pretty warm out, that may have been to blame. Also the property I hunted had two more people on it this year whereas it use to be just me. Did not see as many deer while out as I expected.

Honestly, the best days this year were Oct 15-Nov 1 according to the cameras. Our biggest bucks moving all hours of the day and plenty of new bucks showing up in daylight that never showed again.

Our group hunted hard all throughout November and had pretty mediocre action.

Off and on for me. I am starting to like the latter half of November more and more. Saw lots of 1.5 and 2.5 year olds chasing during the early part of November. November 21st was crazy for me just after the snow and I saw 4 mature bucks by 10am with one taking a dirt nap. I'm starting to lean less on cameras and just go hunt. You never know what walked behind your camera.

I enjoyed the season but the warm weather had a negative impact on deer movement through most of November. The best day movement wise I had was after a small snow event around the 20th.

October 26 I seen and shot. A Mature buck.I believe it was a shoulder hit and was never recovered(searched for 3 days)
I agree with the guys on here that said Oct15-Nov1. But on Nov 20 after that little snow storm I did see 1 mature buck. Those were half of the mature bucks I seen this year.

I took the first week of November off like always. With the warm temps early that week I decided to chase walleye instead of whitetail so I missed out on some sits but i didn't see a lot of mature bucks. I believe the deer I tagged on the 9th was the first mature buck that I seen from the tree stand. I did see a lot of bucks that have me looking forward to this upcoming season.

I tagged out on 14 October. He is a big 4.5 yr old. A friend of mine had pictures of him on is farm that is a mile and a half away two days prior to me shooting him. I also had pretty good pictures in that time of season. I did not see any other mature bucks, while trying to fill doe tags, till the very end of second shotgun. I think that in the next few years with the weather supposedly being warmer, it is going to be a toss up when most of the activity is going to be and it will just be about spending as much time out as you can. I will probably pay more attention to even the small weather changes that will possibly get deer on their feet more. am also going to concentrate and set things up for later season hunts. Seems like there were more mature deer checking does in the late season this year also.

Saw a lot of younger bucks chasing late oct early nov, like usual. Had mature bucks within range on the 7th and 8th both chasing does, just couldn't close the deal. Not a lot of action after that until the evening after the snow think it was the 21st. Shot and missed a big 8 pt. I think next year I will hunt a little harder late October, cams showed a lot of daylight movers in late oct. This year was a lot better than last for the areas I hunt, hope next year is even better.
