Has anyone heard any information as to what the new regulations they're proposing for Western Iowa? Are they adding more counties with buck only 1st season shotgun and no doe tags? Been hearing meeting advertised, but couldn't find any information about the new proposals.
 
I think you guys are reading this wrong, buck only first season as in the tag is antlered deer only, not anysex. And no doe tags issued

I'd like to see no doe hunting for any nonresidents and a one buck limit for residents until numbers get to some agreed upon "recovered" level. An unfortunate truth is that people need to come to grips with the habitat loss and how that affects the carrying capacity of the landscape when it comes to the deer population, the "new normal" if you will. It's also crazy how certain areas just can't escape the EHD plague, I think of areas like Gregory County in SoDak and the deer factory that used to be and now it's just okay at best. I hate to say it, but Western Iowa is looking to be the Gregory County of Iowa.

Well I’ve probably found a couple hundred since 2021. Last spring was one for every 40 acres I shed hunted. One saving grace for the deer that are still left is the number of people that just gave up hunting here. Those that still do don’t hunt as much as they used to.
