I got an accepted offer on a new farm in late oct . As part of deal i can hunt immediately so I put out a cell cam over a lil 2 acre bean cove i negotiated to leave as part of the deal. Well... I had no knowledge no pics to go off so I put out 2 stands quick one in a awsome pinch point and one on a corner over looking the beans . Buy the time I got to sit here the lock down of bigger bucks had started so I bounced back n forth between another farm and couldn't even find a decent 3 yr old ! Finally on nov 18th I got out of work early enough to head to new farm i picked stand on edge of beans thinking bucks would come check for does. I wasn't in stand 10 min when a 2yr old 8pt with busted left beans came through a draw into the beans ate for 15 min and went north into a bedding area . It was a lil before 3pm i looked down edge of beans about 50 yrds and seen a deer feeding on acorns and beans along edge . He was behind some oak branches still holding leaves so tough to see how big he was he started heading north and I decided to give him a couple soft grunts he looked but started heading north again so I fawn/ doe bleated he whipped his head around but would not come. He trotted north into bedding area and his body didn't look very big ? Well.. I hoped he would come back later to check field again. At about 15 I saw antlers coming out of a draw northeast of me across the beans he came out to the edge straight on and he looked like a 17 in wide 3yr old . Then he looked west ! Omg! Look at the points!!! I knew he had lots of typical points and here he came right at me!! He closed to 40 yrds pretty quick and then stopped and looked right under me! He remembered those grunts from and 1hr 20 min earlier and turned and started walking straight south so I had to stand spin around fold seat up and guess the range so I set sight for 30 and drew . He was crossing in cut beans about 35 yrds and of course he started angling away so I gave him a maaaaah to stop him guess yardage around 40 settled pin 2/3 way up his body and sent it! I knocked him right off his feet !!! Caught him center in ribs angling hard forward and flipped him !! I shot again from the tree gathered my stuff crawled down and .... nothing he wasn't laying there!! So I crept out to the spot and saw him in the beans with head up so I crept forward and gave him the finisher. Whew my heart was pounding!! Wow what a hunt on my new farm!!! Now yes he is nice but my original assignment might be right!! This was one of the smallest bodied bucks I've killed maybe 140 lbs yes he's run down from rut but I just don't think he more than 3 yrs old!!!! Should of passed him some will say ! But the way things went down and owning smaller acreage im pretty happy with is deer ! Just i believe a great example of awsome genetics!!!! I will definitely send his teeth in to be aged!
