Curious if anyone has received their CRP payment that was scheduled in Mid-October yet?
Great to hear that!I have a ton going on with programs and sign ups. I was highly impressed they called me first day back to work for an update. Really appreciated and in today's day and age getting rare.
CRP
CSP
State cost share
EQIP
New EQIP stuff
They are backed up. Couple weeks on CRP I think
You mean people buy farms without the means to pay for them unless they have handouts?I stopped in the fsa office to get info on farming subsidies. Discussion turned to crp payments. They said they've been having banks call them to get an update because landowners use crp payment to make mortgage payment on their farm ..
It'll be either this month, or next...![]()
They could just rent the land out, is that a hand out too? Chances are they paid a pretty penny for those tillable acres. You mean people buy farms without the means to pay for them unless they have handouts?
Yes they do, all the time. In many cases, the crop land rent would be higher than the CRP. A lot of the land enrolled in CRP is marginal (too steep, too sandy, too wet) … it can really improve the farm overall & local water quality ! Nope because it is actually being used for farming and not having the government pay for your investment. There's actually a commodity being made off of it.They could just rent the land out, is that a hand out too? Chances are they paid a pretty penny for those tillable acres.
Then why wouldn't they just put it in row crop if they can make more money. I know what I pay for row crop...hint NW Iowa...look it up as someone once told me. And I would not put that into crp,.not a chance. Makes no financial sense. Plus the b.s. government stipulationsThey could just rent the land out, is that a hand out too? If it's too steep to farm then don't farm it. If it's near a water way, create hay fields. A lot of ways around your water quality problems then a govt handout of crpYes they do, all the time. Full time farmer here. I don't get the hate on crp from other farmers. We already have burdensome supplies of pretty much all cash grains. Without crp it would be even worse. Margins suck enough the way it is.If it's too steep to farm then don't farm it. If it's near a water way, create hay fields. Good deal, you saved some time looking up land value, just like CRP isnt the greatest thing since slice bread. It's another controlling factor by the govt on supposedly ground you own or are purchasing.I live in Sioux county, I don't need to look it up. I have both crp and cash rent ground. The cash rent is way less headache.
My point was they don't need a handout , they can rent it out. The same people would still own the ground . Your post hinted (or stated ) that they couldn't afford the ground without a handout.
Fortunately I'm not in a position to need that crp check to make a payment but I sure wouldn't belittle anyone who does. Income is always factored into the purchase
In 2022 $8 corn just due to world instability. But that wasn't sustainable and some knew it. Some bet the farm on it.Full time farmer here. I don't get the hate on crp from other farmers. No thanks! I pay a lot in federal & state taxes every yr, if I get a few dollars back, I’ll take it !!Oh I have... you can plant grass yourself and get the same benefits
Hey Steve I see my handout is scheduled to get paid tomorrow. Looks like the boy will get to eat tomorrow and I might buy something nice for the Wife. Maybe a blot of fabric so she can make herself a new dress. You mean people buy farms without the means to pay for them unless they have handouts?
