I posted a pic here a few months back of a great buck my Dad took in Monona Co. in the early 80's. link to past post
Well, this morning I got that phone call I've been anxiously awaiting..."Matt, it's Steve. Your bucks done and it looks great." "I'll be there as soon as I get off work." What a long day at work it was. I have dreamed of seeing this buck on the wall for a long time and the last few hours of that wait was torture. I tried to keep the whole thing a secret from my pa, but it didn't work out. He's known for a while and was just as excited as I was to see it.
So by 6:00 I was on the road to pick up dad and head to my taxidermist's studio. For anybody in the Kansas City area, you need to check out Sportsman's Taxidermy in Belton, MO. Steve Morris does incredible work and the turn around time on this deer was lightning fast. Plus the cape he found me was beautiful and it only ran me $160. Thanks Steve.
It wasn't long before we were at Dad's house and looking for the right spot to put him up. We both knew Mom wasn't going to be thrilled about it. She's in Nashville and has no idea that there is a deer on the wall in her loft. Can't wait to see the look on her face when she gets home tomorrow. She also is in the dark about the Honda Goldwing pops bought yesterday but thats a whole other story
. She may never want to leave town again.
Enough with the rambling already. Get to the pictures. I hope you like.
