Coldest morning of the year, sunny and -25, windchill was -38. Decided to walk a huge tract of public ground where rumor has a giant living. Seen plenty of deer, just no giant.

This is what you look like after walking 6 miles in -25F and 2 1/2 feet of powder snow.

Minus 30 when I got up this morning. WHere is all the global warming we have been promised???!!!!

Oh well, throw another log on the fire.

I had to drive to Anchorage this afternoon---47 degrees above zero!! I followed a guy on his Harley--no kidding. Talked to my Dad, Brother and uncle hunting the 2nd season and they were freezing their butts off. We have been very mild and have no snow to speak of.
 
God I love snotcicles! Beats pickin your nose. Just let it get long enough on your 'stach to suck on, who needs water? -25 with -38 wc, must not been much of a wind. Nothin better than cutting wood when its that cold and no wind to speak of. Water tastes better, sodas taste better and you know that Makers Mark and a warm fire are waitin for ya when you're done.

Actually ,,there is a sign of "Global Warming", going on right now here in Iowa. Before I moved down here, from Northern MI, I asked the weather service if this part of the country experienced alot of freezing rain. They said no,,that was common further south, in Mo, Ark, more snow up here. Well since I have moved out here that is about all I have seen, every winter. More ICE than snow. This constant threat of freezing rain is because the upper atomosphere is too warm. The surface temps are cold like winter is supposed to be. Seems to me the south is moving north. Joke if you want.

About the only thing predictable about Iowa winter weather is that it's unpredictable.
 
Iowa weather is very predictable,,,Milder winters,overall with more Ice than snow.{My land is under an Ice Storm Warning}, and Hotter Summers.People can debate all they want,the warming and extremes go on.
 
I did an all day sit on Sat. in -15 degree temps here in ND so I feel your pain.

That is the coldest I have ever been in a treestand in my life.
