270 or 300 Win

Spend the money and buy a weatherby. Ive shot alot of rifles over the years and nothing as ever compared to my dads 270 weatherby mag.

Don’t for get you can get the quality of a Weatherby for a great price, and it shoots regular ammo, not the high priced Weatherby ammo. It is call Weatherby Vanguard, it cost under $500, and Weatherby gives you a target with your guns 1 1/2 inch or less groups at 100 yards. All you need is good steel rings and a $200-300 scope and you are set for life.

Mine shoots 2" groups @ 200 7mm Vanguard

I am done. I bought an Encore Prohunt 270 barrel tonight. $269 at sportsman and I let the price steer me. If there had been a 300 sitting there I would have grabed it instead. At Bass Pro in CB they want $339 for the same barrel. Cabelas wanted $329. 28", SS, flutted, Thanks gents.

A .270 is a great choice. I went with a .280 on my Encore only because I already had a .270 on another rifle.

If you don't have a scope yet, don't be cheap. Buy the best your budget allows when it comes to optics.

Howdy Ironwood, as you can see by my picture hav'nt changed much. The gun is just a tool for the craftsman. Sounds like you made a good choice. When I bought my first rifle (.270) I bought it well used. Remington Model 721 mfrd in 1949. Economics was a consideration and I dropped my first yote at 200 yards with 130 grains & a smile
